Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

Did you pull the 2 pivot lock pins? I've only done a few myself, but it seems to me the pivot kind of controls the size of the bite. If you're taking too much, the forward force overcomes the weight of the unit and it tilts up and 'automatically' take a shallower bite. Am I wrong? Is there...

Quick question about Fords pro back up assist.

One thing to keep in mind w/ it is that when you release the knob, the system will drive the truck to follow the trailer. So, you can basically forget about the truck (but you still need to watch the front corners for clearances). It does tend to cut the wheels a bit aggressively, and if you're...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I wasn't familiar with using 'limit chains', but after a bit of Googling, I kind of get the idea, but am wondering how they may work on a ditch bank mower when the top link bracket gets shifted out the to the side or tilted 90deg. I can't see how the chain would limit the height of the mower w/o...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I'm not too familiar with tractors other than my own, but I thought it seemed to have a good number of adjustments, incl. the side to side (not a chain or turnbuckle, but a pair of sliding 'braces' that can be pinned every inch or so). But, I doesn't seem that I have any vertical adjustments for...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

The lower links do 'extend', though I only extend them when hooking up. Once connected, I push back a bit w/ the tractor and they lock into the short position. I'm not even sure they lock in the extended position. The turnbuckles to adjust tilt are the same length. The left one is just a fixed...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

I'll give that a try. I've been trying to set it so that w/ the 3pt all the way down (rollers on the ground) , it's running high along the front edge at its min cutting height (ideally, ~3", I think) with the skids not touching (or barely along the back edges). (When I set it this way, the...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

In my 'test run', I was mowing the brush alongside a trail under the power lines in the back of the property. The power company had come in and mulched everything under the lines within the last 2 years, so there was nothing that was really thick. What the mower cut, it seemed to do a pretty...

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

Thx. I'll move the top link back to the slot, but I may need a longer top-link to keep it tilted back for a minimum cutting height. I think I may have the slots on the side cylinder as well (I also have a CKse), so I'll try that, too.

Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

Speaking of Ditch Bank Mowers, what's the common setup when using it in the typical mower mode (level and directly behind the tractor)? I recently got the MechMaxx Ditch Bank Mower... there's not much info in the manual in setting it up, but there's a bit more in the Offset Mower manual, so I...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

Yes, you can. Not sure if the process is consistent across states(?). W/ a trailer, in the NE, it's my understanding you need to order it derated or get a new COO and a sticker from the manufacturer, which many are willing to provide. But, if I understand correctly, when you derate the trailer...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

The Appalachian is ruled out because the 15k rating puts me in CDL territory. I'm settled on this one - picking up on Mon: https://norstarcompany.com/trailers/twb14-tilt-trailer/ If I end up w/ a CTL down the road that exceeds the trailer's rating, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Anyone have a MechMaxx 3-pt stump grinder?

I placed an order last week and got an order # right away. Last night (Fri), I got a shipping confirmation on the Flail Mower I ordered, but it doesn't seem to include the Stump Grinder, though there is a note that multiple items may ship separately. Edit - Regarding the site w/ the $990 price...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

Per my original post, my intention is to start providing some tractor services in my area, so yes, commercial. I won't need a CDL for the 3 trailers that I'm currently considering for use w/ my current tractor, but I was originally thinking I would get a CTL down the road. I was hoping that I...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

I do live in the NE, but I don't think the trailer will see much use during the winter, so not too concerned w/ corrosion issues, but I think the durability of a steel trailer would be a plus for my application, so I think I'm eliminating the aluminum options for now. That Nordtek is nice, but...

    Baumalight Flail Mower (vs MechMaxx)

Though I'm also of the mindset to buy quality when possible, I ordered the MechMaxx Ditch Bank Flail mower. It's a fully articulating flail mower at <1/2 the cost of the Baumalight fixed flail mower. I don't expect it be able to get into same stuff that the BL mower would, but I'm thinking that...

    Baumalight Flail Mower (vs MechMaxx)

The Baumalight Flail mower has standard Hammers (F2000 teeth), or you can '...upgrade to our F3000 Heavy Blade Teeth and instantly increase your mulching capacity on brush...and will allow you to double your brush size mulching capacity without any other equipment adjustments required.' Don't...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

@LouNY - With that trailer, can you load a Compact Tractor w/ backhoe, or is the angle too steep? Now eyeing an 22' Iron Bull. Saw a YT video and they seem well-built at a reasonable price. The one I'm looking at is 14k w/ Megaramps (keeps me under 26k GCVWR), but I'm going to see if I can find...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

I just realized that I may have screwed myself... The Big Tex trailer is a 15,400# GVWR trailer, and the Appalachian is 15k#. My F350 is rated at 11,300#. That puts me over the 26,000# limit w/ either of these options. I'm not really interested in getting a CDL, and I don't think I can swing a...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for all the comments! To answer / address a couple of comments: - I'll probably stick w/ a low-boy for now. My current tractor is only 60" wide, and I don't think I'll be running any implements that would be >70". - If I end up w/ a SS and mulching head, I...

Trailer Decision - Pros / Cons

Looking to pick up a trailer for use w/ a Compact Tractor with the intention of maybe doing some tractor work on the side. I'm also considering picking up a ~75hp skid steer (~9500#) w/ a mulching head (~2000#?) if timing works out sometime in the future. Willing to buy used in good condition or...

    CK3510se Won't Start - Electrical(?)

Well, I guess I'm the idiot... My brother came by the next morning, put a portable booster pack on it, and it started right up. Alternator tested fine once running. Ran it for an hour or so at ~2300rpm, and it ran fine. Turned it off, and it wouldn't start again. So, the 2-week old battery, that...

    CK3510se Won't Start - Electrical(?)

Thanks for the tips. The old, original battery was going after ~5yrs, so I pulled it last fall (the tractor is at a seasonal family home) and put a new one, so the battery is brand new (2 weeks old). It shows 12.7v on a meter, but I'll pull it and load test it, but I don't have my load tester...

    CK3510se Won't Start - Electrical(?)

You mean the one from the - Terminal on the battery? (Not a cab model, so no grounding straps from the cab.) I'll take a closer look, but this cable seemed to be in pretty good shape, though there was the bit of corrosion on the + Terminal.

    CK3510se Won't Start - Electrical(?)

Sorry... I thought they introduced DEF on the later models. Mine was from '18 or so... It does have DPF. Also, I mentioned the fuse on the + terminal. I think that may be an accessory connection and not OEM. Maybe to the 3rd function switch/solenoid, so chances are it's not related to the problem.

    CK3510se Won't Start - Electrical(?)

I have a pre-DEF CK3510se with ~100hrs on it. Last week, I put a new battery in it. In the process, the bolt on the + battery terminal clamp (which was a little corroded) broke. I didn't have a bolt that would fit at the time, so I put the clamp on w/o a bolt, started it and used it for less...

    Multi-use trailer Opinions?

We're looking at trailers for various uses, but don't really have the room to store more than one. Ideally, we'd want this for: 1) Use w/ a Polaris Ranger SxS UTV 2) Occasional Car Hauler (rarely...) 3) Occasional 'Utility Trailer' (material runs at HD, etc...) 4) Occasional Tractor Hauler...

PTO Power Rake Rental in Catskills NY / NE PA?

We're going to have a few trees removed and the stumps ground out. The ground under these trees is a bit hard, but also a bit mossy. Afterwards, I'd like to level the area a bit, add some topsoil/compost/manure, and seed new grass. We have a 35hp compact tractor, and I'm thinking that a power...

    What is this (weed)?

Recently (last year or so) started seeing these things popping up in the lawn at our vacation home in NY. I try to mow at least once every 2 weeks when I can get up there, and it grows much faster than the grass. The ones in the photo are a little over a week old since the last cut. It's by no...

Fuel Strainer got pushed into the tank.

So, I was filling up our CK3510se for the second time ever over the weekend (from a 5gal can) and managed to knock the strainer into the tank. I don't think there's any way I'm going to be able to get it out. Does anyone think it'll cause a problem floating around in there? TIA. -Lee

Any update on the backorders? I've had a 54" Grapple on order since 4/18 that I was hoping to have by Memorial Day Wknd, but was told at the time of the order there was a 6-7 week wait and I knew that Memorial Day might be pushing it. Thinning forest

See Post #1, Paragraph 3. Here's a couple of photos of what I'm dealing with. When I was a kid (40 years ago), some of this was just wild fields with a lot of blueberry bushes. We had a brush fire that cleared a lot of that, and after, larger trees (mostly maples, but some birch and maybe...

    Thinning forest

I'm taking delivery of a Kioti CK3510se TLB next week, along with a 55" Wicked Root Grapple, Piranha Bar, and a Wallenstein Chipper/Shredder. One of the projects on my to-do list is to thin out the forest surrounding my family's place. Total forest area of about 3-4 acres, maybe up to 6-7...

    What Bucket SIze?

My new Kioti CK3510se will be delivered next week. The dealer says it'll probably come with a 66" bucket, but some of the CKs on his lot have 60" buckets (seems random - not like the ones with more HP have the larger buckets). The CK w/ R4 tires is ~63" wide. The 66" bucket is about 1 cubic foot...

    Pirahna Bar for CK3510SE?

I'll probably be ordering a CK3510SE tomorrow, and want to get a Pirahna Bar (or similar tooth bar). It seems the bucket (66") has holes pre-drilled for a tooth bar / cutting edge. Can the Pirahna bar be ordered to bolt into these holes instead of drilling out new holes on the sides? Anyone...

    Pallet forks for CK3510?

Any preference? Looking at the lightweight Kioti or the EA Small Compact Forks. Both 42" and 2200#, but the Kioti are slightly heavier. The frames are a bit different, though I'm not sure one has an advantage over the other. If they're within ~$50 of each other, which would you choose (or...

    KL40xx Loader Differences

Stumbled into a Kioti dealer today.

I found a pic that sort of shows one of the areas I'm a bit concerned with, though it's probably hard to judge steepness from a photo. The top of the hill area (to the left) isn't bad, but the area to the right of the little tree drops off and is a bit steeper for about 20' before leveling out...

Stumbled into a Kioti dealer today.

Passed it many times, but was never in the market for a tractor before. Actually thought it was a Kubota dealer. ;D Anyway, Kioti wasn't on my radar, and have kind of been leaning towards a Mahindra 1526, but was going to wait on seeing the new 1626 or 1635. In the meantime, I thought I'd give...

    1500 / 2500 / 2600 - No mid-mower w/ backhoe?

I was at a dealer yesterday looking mostly at the 1526 / 1533, and he said that he didn't think you could get a mid-mower along with the backhoe because of the way the subframe was mounted. Can anyone confirm or renounce this for any of the 1500, 2500, 2600, or upcoming 1600? I thought I saw...
