    Does Anyone Buy Used Tractors?

I think most who ask questions about buying a tractor on TBN buy new because they are new to tractors (thus all the questions) and because of this are uncomfortable buying used. I'd guess there's a lot of buying and selling used that you never hear about. Believe me, it's very easy to sell a...

Used prices going up, up, up - Tractor Futures!

You know, they don't calculate inflation like they did in the 70's. If they did, this past year would be around 15% instead of the 8% figure they're using. There has been a ton of inflation since I bought my tractor. I'd guess around 50% using a fair calculation, not the governments.

    FOPS for my DS3510

I like how you utilized the extra hole on the ROPS as a mounting point. I never thought about that as an option when designing mine but it's a good idea. I went with a clamp style attachment on mine. It clamps directly to the top of the ROPS.

    Scag vs Bad Boy

Hydro-gear uses and integrated pump / motor / gear set to drive the wheel. A small fast motor spins faster than the wheel and gear reduction is used to get the necessary torque. They make 6 models that I know of from the cheapo transmissions in the home depot ZTRs to light commercial and heavy...

    Scag vs Bad Boy

There was a time when transaxles were light duty and separate pumps / motors were the only heavy duty option. But now the largest offering from hydro gear is quite beefy and the parker integrated pump / motors are outstanding. I'm partial to the Parker myself. I think Bad Boy Outlaw XP uses...

    most likely a controversial mod.

I actually had to cut mine to make it fit in the barn with the FOPS installed. I only took 2" out of it but it made the difference between scraping and having 2" of clearance. If I didn't cut the ROPS, I could not have the FOPS and still store the tractor inside. I could have changed the FOPS...

Ballast How much ballast is too much ballast?

Depends on what I'm doing: - moving loose dirt, or gravel in standard bucket - 1000 pounds of rear tire fill plus the ~200 pound brush cage seems to be plenty. - moving medium size stumps (<2000 pounds) I'll start thinking about putting the rear blade on (extra 500 pounds and sticks way behind...

    Stump bucket discussion

Today I tackled 2 stumps. The first was a piece of cake. I plunged the bucket down wiggled it with the curl cylinders to get about 2 ft down and then pried the stump in the picture up on my first try. But then I tackled a 13 inch black walnut that was cut flush to the ground. It would not...

I think I've read every thread on stump buckets at TBN. Some people really like them, some think they are worthless. I built a 24x27 out building with a loft for ~$30K. I wouldn't do anything differently with that budget. However, with more budget I would go bigger. At this point I may eventually add a shed roof off the back and both sides for more space. As it is, I can keep my truck, too tractors, zero...

Buying Advice First Tractor - Which way to go?

Ironically, the SCUTs are nearly as expensive as some tractors that are much larger. The tractor in the picture is a 2013 Kioti DS4510HS. I bought this as a leftover / demo 6 months ago with a 4 year warrantee for $19.5K with one rear remote and the loader. That's not too far from the 15K mark...

Looking for a 7 to 8 foot rear blade for Kioti DS4510HS. Would like hydraulic angle function. Two questions: 1. What width should I get - mostly for grading gravel and moving snow (would like to be able to run a good angle and still cover 69" width of tractor). I have one land scaping...

What size snow bucket - DS4510HS

I liked that cage. It was great in the woods because stuff would just ride up the two front rails and over the top. The small size of the tractor helped. On the flip side, that tractors lift limitations were a negative in the woods when moving trees around. It was made by Precission Chassis...
