    MF1758 Overheating?

Thanks for your comments. Your terrain looks similar to my field; mine might be a bit steeper in spots. They tractor doesn't seem to have any issues with power regarding handling the hills and running the mower. I keep it in low range on the HST. Unfortunately, the temp gauge does not change...

    MF1758 Overheating?

Thanks for all your comments and questions. This year I find myself having to cut 3' to 4' foot high grass / weed with some golden rod and milkweed. We have had a lot of rain, and I couldn't access the field (~40 acres) till recently. Ideally I would have mowed it much earlier. I always wait...

    MF1758 Overheating?

I'm hoping to get some input regarding engine temperature on this model. The temperature gauge display is comprised of bars. 3 bars is "normal" according to the marking on the dash so I get nervous if it goes over that. The gauge does display up to 6 bars. Does anyone know what is...

    Loaded tire pressure gauge

Thanks for the question. I think you are correct, however, what matters is that the fluid gunks up the works of most "regular" tire pressure gauges.

    Loaded tire pressure gauge

Thanks. I've tried that but seem to get a lot of liquid (washer fluid) spitting out of the valve. Maybe I need to let more bleed out.

    Loaded tire pressure gauge

Has anyone come across a decent gauge for reading pressure on loaded tires? I can seem to find one that is easy to read and accurate. Thanks.

    HST problem in reverse?

Well its been awhile since I posted about this and I have had time to use the tractor in several different types of weather conditions. Very cold to very hot. I thought that I would share my findings in the hope it would help out someone else with an HST. Here is what I discovered. The...

    HST problem in reverse?

The tractor has the original R4 tires, loaded. This feels like something has changed. Thanks.

    HST problem in reverse?

Wow. Thank you for the detailed response. I'm going to have to order a service manual so I can dig in to this more. I have a lot to learn but as with most things, I usually prefer to do the work myself - so your comments are very helpful. John

    HST problem in reverse?

I imagine that its possible that something in the reverse logic is causing this issue. Hoping for something more simple. It will surge in reverse at any speed and all ranges. The engine sound and rpm never changes. Thanks for the input.

    HST problem in reverse?

Thanks for your response. I crawled under and check for debris. Couldn't see anything. I lubed the brake linkage (as per previous post). Thank you

    HST problem in reverse?

Thanks. Yes, the parking brake is released. However you got me thinking in that direction. I checked and lubed the brake linkage. Didn't see any binding but a little oil can't hurt. I haven't put any time on the tractor since. Plenty of field work coming up soon; I'll let you know if it...

    HST problem in reverse?

Hello all, I own a MF1758 HST tractor that has begun to act strangely when I back up. Seems just fine in forward. I feel a surging like motion, like I'm backing up over cobbles. Sort of like I feel resistance and then no resistance, if that makes sense. The engine rpm does not fluctuate. Only...
