NX5510 - No hydraulics after filter and fluid change

What about filling the hydraulic fluid from 1/2 on the stick to right to the full mark?
When you put the old filter back on did you confirm that there was not a doubled up gasket left on the case?
You mention a different fluid... What fluid are you using specifically?

Try filling it is sucking maybe cause it needs filled to work my kubota was filled all the way up when I changed it.

A couple of things not mentioned so far is the fact that the majority of hydraulic filters on a hydraulic system, filter on the return as the filters cannot handle full system pressure.
Transmission filters are different as you are not talking about 2000 lbs of pressure.
Most systems will have a screen on the intake to the pump to prevent large pieces from the sump getting to the pump.
Get a schematic of your system so you know what is involved/included within the system, get to know your system, always check the simplest thing first, always, no exceptions.
if you fail anything in your system you will probably contaminate the entire system, this means you disassemble every hose, cylinder, valve in your system, if you do not, you will recontaminate the entire system and have ongoing problems until you clean the entire system.
The reason manufactures install filters upside down is so you can not prefill, does that tell you something, just because oil is new does not mean it’s clean, do not prefill oil or fuel filters as this is bypassing the filter, just like putting dirty oil or fuel in your engine or transmission. Price out an injector for your engine, want to change them because you pre-filled the filter?

Most tractors will have the hydraulic filter at the suction side of the pump. Some choose to still run a screen, others don't.

I guess it’s too much work to read all the posts before responding!! I thought of temperature too but it was said no a few times. Second guess would be the old gasket was stuck on the housing.

Wonder if you could use a compressor to put some pressure on the tank to force some fluid to the pump?

I would be fearful of blowing a seal somewhere doing that

OK, and the winner is... JimR! Fluid was just too darn cold. I pulled out a propane heater (that I've never used) and blasted the filter and underside. Started up and zero complaints from the pump. Ran for a bit and shut it down and installed the new filter (no fluid added). Fired up and all was still good. Took a few laps around my driveway, hooked my forks back up and put it away. I have to say that this fluid, now that the pump can actually fetch it(!), feels VERY nice- everything feels so much smoother and quicker. I will see how things are when I go to use it (minimal use this time of the year- mostly relegated to moving around crates of firewood).

For what it's worth, this fluid is supposed to last a lot longer (won't be doing a fluid change for a while- likely send in a sample at 400 hrs; filter changes per schedule, of course).

Again, I cannot state how appreciative I am of everyone here. There are not a lot of forums with a LOT of great and knowledgeable folks.

Jeeze what a saga! I've a Kubota and the filters and hydraulic fluid in the shed - over a year now - waiting to change it out.. One guy told me about the ShopVac 'trick' but, never watching it done up close or even knowing which filters which and getting really stung on a fuel pump R&R (>$700.00) I've really been avoiding the fluid change.

At least I learned not to do it in an unheated shop in the dead of Winter. (BTW: When I built my shop in (relatively mild foothills of NC), I insulated the dickens out of it. I've got several ceiling fans that I run in conjunction with a propane torpedo heater for 15-20 minutes to warm the place up and, once it's sixty, turn it off and it holds for hours. Well worth the investment in time, effort and money.

Then again, if it died in there - what a ***** getting it towed to a dealer!

Pretty sure you would not blow a seal doing that. The case is vented and many use that technique to get fluid flowing. But anything is possible I guess.

Kioti ck22 had same problem
Lost steering too
Go figure jacked up front end and manually worked the steering
Got back full hydraulics
Also engaging the mid pto helped
Looks like an air lock or similar

I've done a fair number of fluid changes and this is the first time I've encountered this. Loader jerks a few inches and that's it. PTO spins, but it doesn't seem very vigorous. Steering isn't happening (no power).

I'd over-filled a bit so I removed fluid to just under full.

Haven't run for more than a couple of minutes (total) for fear of damaging something. All Kioti filters. No issues changing anything. I am using semi-synthetic fluid, spec'd better than Kioti.

How best to work through this?

quick reply here. Did you happen to dial back the hyraulics knob under the seat?
