Thank you all. So far no luck. Tomorrow grandson is coming over and hopefully I can get the hood off. I will post if there is any progress after that.

    Ford 1700 Starting Problem

Thanks for all the replies. Don't have any easy options for raising the bucket unfortunately. Took out hinge pins and tried to get hood off but it's just me and it still binds up on the hinge and I can't get it around them. Best bet is to get it started if possible. I'll disassemble what is...

    Ford 1700 Wheel Question

Thanks! I thought I was good at searching the internet but the links you both provided are much less expensive than what I found myself. I'm glad parts are still available though. The rim is really falling apart from rust. The other side has none. Don't know why. Francis

    Ford 1700 Wheel Question

Thank you! The metal I was asking about is on the right side of the nut in the picture. It looks like, to me, it is bent around that side of the nut. But maybe I don't know what I am looking at. Thanks again!

    Ford 1700 Starter Problem

Thanks for the reply. Brand new battery. New battery. New battery cables. Checked all the other connections. I think I am going to return the starter. Try another one. The engine moves pretty easily by hand, using a long screwdriver. Doesn't seem to be any reason for the starter not...

    Ford 1700 Starter Problem

Thank you for the reply. I thought that might be a problem also. I did try running a jumper cable directly from the negative terminal on the battery to one of the bolts on the starter. Like you said things are rusty on the tractor. Unfortunately it didn't make any difference. Thank you...
