    Wal Mart disaster relief.

A farm across the border in VT from my small hometown is taking donations all weekend and loading up two tractor trailers from the local director chair and patio furniture company to deliver to North Carolina. We're currently in the process of cleaning out my parent's house so we will be...

    Wal Mart disaster relief.

I have been researching lakes in western North Carolina as potential retirement spots. Lake Lure was one of them. Take a look at before and after photos of the lake, it's incredible.

oil/diesel mix vs. Thompson's® WaterSeal for house deck

I always recommend this site to anyone looking to refinish/stain a deck https://www.deckstainhelp.com/ Just a few posts before this someone recommended TWP which is highly rates on this site. I chose the Armstrong Clark product when I refinished a deck on my old house and it was great stuff...

The accountant says we can retire early. Woohoo!!!

Congrats! I'm on track to retire at 58 as well. Having no kids and being cheap or "frugal" pays offs. I've always read a couple shouldn't retire at the same time, so you and the wife need to decide who goes first. lol. I've already decided my wife retires after I do. HAHHA

Pallet Fork / Lift Capacity question

Forks arrived yesterday. Not bad, ordered on Sunday, arrived Wednesday. Seem very well built, will put them to use soon!

Pallet Fork / Lift Capacity question

Thanks for the info! I know in my original post I mentioned a 100 gallon collection tank. I must have been anticipating purchasing one because my tanks now are 65 gallon. I'm still going to collect with the tank on the three point hitch for the reasons you and a few others have mentioned...

Pallet Fork / Lift Capacity question

Update - ordered the pallet forks from Good Works yesterday. Another shout out to their customer service. I sent them an email on Sunday thinking I would get a response today, but they were responding to emails on a Sunday. I'll post more updates once I receive the forks.

would like comparison of string trimmers

Echo 2620 owner here. Love it. Starts much easier than my pervious Stihl trimmer, and changing the line is so much easier with the speed feed. I'm 6'3" but still added the attachment in the link below and it is a game changer...

    Whatever you feel like thread.

Do you have a trailer with a gate that comes down? I drive mine up the gate so half of the mower is accessible. Remove the blades you can reach, then do the same on the other side.

Parents with dementia, how dealing with that has gone.

Started the process of cleaning out my parent's house yesterday to prep for sale. Filled a 20 yard dumpster with ease, going to need another one. Pretty tough day

You said we're all salty that someone spent $100k on a truck we didn't like. I wouldn't even be salty about it if someone spent $100k on a truck I did like because it's foolish to me.

EV owners of today and tomorrow

Nope, not me. $100K on any vehicle is stupid IMO

Generac or Koehler whole house generator?

It's $200 to have the annual service done on my Generac. To me that is worth the expense knowing it won't void the warranty
  165. Duds13

Generac or Koehler whole house generator?

If you never want to lose power again, buy a generator. lol
  166. Duds13

Generac or Koehler whole house generator?

It definitely should not be $20k total.

Generac or Koehler whole house generator?

I have a 22kw Generac, on the 4th year or so with it. No issues at all, but ever since we got it we're only lost power for a couple hours, lol. I was going to look at Kohler but in my area the dealer was pretty far away so that factored into my decision to go with Generac. I think it's one...

    Best string trimmer string.

I like the Echo Black Diamond line. Cuts great but like any other trimmer line it's going to break along fences or rock walls. If it's not heavy weeds, just lay off the throttle and you'll break less line.

Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

My hummers have been nuts the last two nights! We've had some serious downpours in the late afternoon so I don't know if that riles them up or not but there is constant divebombing on the feeders and chasing one another. Fun to watch!

That's awesome! More proof that they don't build stuff like they used to!

    Hedge Trimmer

Yup saw that right after I posted. Not sure why it didn't come up in my search a few months back when I was looking
  175. Duds13

    Hedge Trimmer

Interesting. I recently looked to see if they had one but didn't come up with anything. Must not have looked hard enough, lol I have some Ridgid stuff and really like it and they stand by their warranty. Recently had 18 year old batteries and a drill fail and they replaced them without question.

Parents with dementia, how dealing with that has gone.

I'm going through this now. Mom passed in September of 2022 and Dad just passed on July 10th. Plan is to divide up what the 5 siblings want to take, then maybe a garage sale. My brother and I brought up everything from the basement this weekend and put it in the garage until we get a dumpster...

    Parents needing help, etc.

Very sorry to hear what you are going through. I just lost my Dad on July 10th, less than 2 years after losing my Mom. My Dad was adamant that he didn't need any help right up until a couple weeks before he passed. He then started to finally admit that he couldn't do everything that he used...

Thinking of getting a new smaller chainsaw

I assume these are logs since you were cutting them up? If so, they probably aren't semi-dry to well-seasoned, especially oak.

Thinking of getting a new smaller chainsaw

My Echo dealer will often give me the 15% discount regardless of when the Echo Days sale is coming up. Doesn't hurt to ask!

Dawn dish soap and COLD water! Keep the pores closed. The urushiol oil is very similar to grease, so Dawn works best at removing it. Scrub and rinse a minimum of 3 times within the first hour or so and you should be OK

    Cedar Porch Ceiling

Thank you! $14 a board saved me a lot of $$ for sure. It will definitely be a nice transformation. The posts are going to be wrapped with cedar and sealed with the same sealer. The original floor was pressure treated wood that was painted, so it was always peeling so we went with Timbertech...

That looks fantastic Eddie. I found a local mill who had 8' cedar boards for $14 so I bought 50 of them. I ended up sealing them with Watco Exterior Wood sealer. I got the same look you have and I love it!
