I would think the best all around unit for the price at 5000lbs+ is the Typhon Terror XXV. Seller on Ebay has it for just under $18K but allows offers. Don't like the thumb design on it but that could be improved afterwards. Pardon Our Interruption...

Found a video review about the Bull18X. Some interesting improvements (protected drive motors, 2 speed and Parker pump) and it does come with some additional attachments standard. Like Carl-NH I am not sure the price increase over similar 2-ton models is worthwhile.

If you buy a mini off Ebay some of them allow to split the charge over 2 CC's. Ebay does provide purchase protection for many of the sales though you need to read the terms about returns whether allowed and paid for or not. Your credit cards should have Buyer protection. Not sure how that works when you spread a purchase over two different cards. Bit of a hack but some of the bolt style quick connect hitches have the correct 90mm CTC spacing for the spring loaded quick hitch to grab. Because they tighten with bolt and rising C hook you can fit the smaller CTC of an attachment. Recently the bolt style have been all over Ebay in the $70 range.

I have only used my auger twice so far. It has the 150mm or 6 inch bit. Worked great for the first hole but in the second about 1.5 ft down it ran into a big enough rock it could not go further. I bought it for less than $400 off Ebay and it may or may not be worth it. I think it all depends on...

Just looking at it it has some nice features. I notice that the price is about $19k on Ebay for the cab model with Aircon. It does not list 2 speed travel but it does have faster travel of 3.4kmh versus my TT-17 at 2.1kmh. Hard to see how much space is in the cab for the operator but that it...

Incidentally if you do get a mini be careful of some of the attachments out there. Even if you get the same pin diameter (25 mm is common) the span distance and the pin center to center distance can be off and thus making it difficult to fit. The pin CTC really comes into play if using the...

When is a Chain at End of Life

My experience is opposite the OP. Back in the old days saw chains were expensive and difficult to get. You used them until pretty worn out. Nowadays they are cheap and easy to buy online. I sharpen them until 1/2 worn down and toss them. No sense in being penny wise and pound foolish.

GC2310 steering wheel loose - rubber bushing replacement

It is just a simple hydraulic control unit with hoses. The shock mounts allow more movement from someone grabbing it than simply bolting it solid. I had my tractor for 20 years after I hard mounted it and never experience any trouble from doing so.

GC2310 steering wheel loose - rubber bushing replacement

I removed mine after a couple years when the rubber bushings had disintegrated. I fail to see they served any purpose other than to cause play in the steering wheel.

Grading Box Blade and Rock Rake (a.k.a. york rake?) not really doing the job. Operator lacking skills?

Around my area the materiel from the crusher/wash plant that they do not sell as graded rock is sold as "Dirty base". You want to avoid having it hauled when raining because it sets up like concrete and is hard to dump smoothly. It is quite a bit cheaper by the ton.

Grading Box Blade and Rock Rake (a.k.a. york rake?) not really doing the job. Operator lacking skills?

If you have a commercial saw mill in the area, and if they are willing to sell sawdust and wood chips, I found that a few loads of those over rocky uneven land is a quick way to get a level pad. They decay with time and create soil. But other than that the crusher fines are a good option.

Grading Box Blade and Rock Rake (a.k.a. york rake?) not really doing the job. Operator lacking skills?

If you have more rocks than soil there is only so much you can do to remove them and end up with level ground. As you are finding out each one you pop up allows more to show. Also since you have roots that grab your implement as you go this makes it even more difficult. You would be better to...

    2003 GC2300 broken radiator.

The positioning of the cylinders and also the hydraulic hoses are a little short to the joy stick controller so there was no way to plug them back in until the loader was pinned in place to the tractor's mount.

Will update if it fails. Looking great even after running another hour. Btw getting the loader back on was a lot more difficult then taking it off. Had to use a come along to the ROPs to lift the thing into place.

It held water so I went ahead and put it back into the tractor. I ran it for a some time until warmed up and noticed no leaking so I buttoned everything up. If JB Weld is to be believed it claims a rating 4730psi. Since most coolant systems have a pressure relief at 15psi this should be sufficient if a good bond is made. 2003 GC2300 broken radiator.

I got the first two layers of epoxy on. Tomorrow I will put another 1 or 2. It takes a full 24 hours to cure and though it says it sets in 1 hour I found that 2 hours between coats still found the first coat soft. Maybe by Sunday I can do a water test to see if the leaks have been plugged.

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Running one drive motor versus two should require much less pump capacity. Trying a turn with both drive motors (1 forward and 1 in reverse) would be the largest amount of fluid flow. I own a 2003 GC2300 (original owner) with about 600 hours. Based on that I would say that one with as many hours as 3870 is amazing that it lasted that long. There is no way it is worth $6250. Maybe if it is in running condition $1000. Though even that would be a gamble.

If it is still in probate than yes. Even more reason to stop thinking of it as his Mom's home. Depending on the probate laws of California there may be no option for what the siblings are wanting to do. The one thing the OP has not mentioned is who is the court approved Executor for the Estate.

Regarding rock and dirt caught up in the bark. Try as much as possible to never drag your logs. If you have the equipment lift them and carry them to put onto your mill.

Getting an annual physical at the doctors

Talking and interacting in a pleasant manor with others is a necessary skill set. But, if by nature, you are a loner (and not one because of mental problems, addiction or circumstance) you simply do not bother with making friends. You might have friendly neighbors, acquaintances and even people...

Getting an annual physical at the doctors

I recall a few years back a real problem that the VA had with contamination due to improper sterilization. There is also chance for internal damage even when used properly. Finally the act of being put under general anesthesia has pitfalls. People have died. So no not super duper safe. But...

Getting an annual physical at the doctors

I really wonder why such a draconian policy about this seems to infect the medical world. It has stopped me from ever getting the procedure though I tried a few work arounds and just ended cancelling from the age of 50 till 65 and still have not had it done. It is stupid bureaucratic nonsense...

Not to offend anyone but Whole body donation allows no cost cremation. My late Father donated his body for research and the process was straight forward for me to handle. After he passed I simply called up the notification number and they handled all the arrangements. Teh created remains 9of...

    Anybody built a Tiny House?

Really tight on width using just 4 ft (internal dimensions or ?). A shower stall on one end and a toilet on the other would be possible. In between on the back wall could be your sink/vanity. Not the best plumbing layout but sometimes you have to work with what you got.

What did you do with your Chinese baby digger today?

Yes it was. I hope the young fellow survived it. Jumping out underneath a heavy falling machine was not the right instinctive response. Error compounding bad judgment to begin with for trying to operate in such a way.

The magneto is also where they pull the battery voltage from. So I do not know if the alternator amp rating B&S uses is for everything or not.
