    Finding power lines

Same here. Had an old fellow tell me to try a couple of pieces of coat hanger bent into an L shape. Worked perfectly. Found the line going from the house to the barns, lines going from outdoor wood boiler to the house and the propane line from the tank to the house. I was amazed how well it worked.

Cool Or Creepy Things Found In The Bush Or On Your Property

I’ve found a few interesting things in the woods. Once I came across a spring bubbling out of the side of a hill way back in some woods. I sat down to take a break and for some reason I started to clear the accumulated junk out of the spring and ended up finding an old milk glass cup buried in...

    Status of Everything Attachments

With all the credit card companies that took a hit by having to refund folks money you would think they wouldn’t allow you to use their credit cards to buy from EA again.

    Flail mower use

Not an answer to your question about using the flail mower as you described, but I had the exact same situation with multiflora rose and rocks along my fields. I used my root rake grapple to clear the field edges and was very impressed with how good of a job it did. Opened the grapple, dropped...

What Caused This Wood Deck Failure?

Interesting thread as I just had a deck built and the builder enclosed it with non vented mobile home skirting. Now I’m thinking I need to redo the skirting. For any of you that actually have knowledge about deck ventilation would using vented skirting offer enough ventilation? The skirting is...

    Grapple choices

I’ve had a Land Pride SGC1072 for my MX5400. I bought it about a year and a half ago and it has served me well. I have used it for clearing brush, moving logs and big rocks. I am really impressed on how good it works at all the things I have done with it. The work it saved me when clearing multi...

What to Look for in Zero Turn Mower

One feature I wish I on my zero turn is a flip up deck. I have never had one with the feature but they look pretty slick for easy deck cleaning and blade access.

Long term planning of selling your home?

The way the market is in our area, I would be hesitant to spend any money to update before a sale. Even with interest rates as high as they are, there is still more demand than available places for sale. Unless you are way out of line on the asking price houses don’t seem to be on the market...

Piranha or Piranha Pro for CK2610?

I recently purchased the Piranha Pro for my MX5400. I was also leery of being off on my measurements since there is no returning it. I’m not sure how many times I remeasured the holes but it was quite a few. In the end it bolted up perfectly.

Why don’t you own a toothbar?

Not sure if this is the style of tooth bar you would want, and not cheap by any means, but you can order this to fit your existing holes. https://www.bxpanded.com/piranhapro

Grappling fun - A Picture Thread....

Nice picture, makes me question my purchase of my root rake grapple! My root rake style does a fantastic job, and makes quick work of clearing brush encroaching on the field edges and around fruit trees but I do wish I could hold more when gathering logs for fire wood. Have you used yours to...

Ford Tractor photo thread, lets start one!

I believe the gentleman I purchased it from was also a member of an antique tractor group. I’m sure some are purists and want everything 100% original, which I get. Because I use my tractors, I will go with function over form. Like I said in dusty conditions the air cleaner did actually collect...

Ford Tractor photo thread, lets start one!

The double ring chains are amazing for traction, a little rough ride on frozen ground without snow but well worth it. I didn’t restore it. My previous 860 I inherited when we bought our farm was in rough cosmetic shape but served me well for lots of years. It finally got to the point it needed...

    Clear cutting half arsed, why?

It may be different in your area but around here a cutover like that will look vastly different in 5 years. Besides the pile of cutoffs, the tops and slash will have settled and new growth will over take everything. Also, the slash left on the ground protects new growth from browsing deer and...

84” ssqa snow blade on 72” wide tractor

Thanks for this info. I have a line on a 7’ for a good price, but have been debating about going with 8’. For only 3 “ more per side the 7’ seems like the way to go for the price.

Would a 84” ssqa snow blade turned 30 degrees be as wide or wider than a tractor that has a 72” wide tire track?

    Well… that was stupid…

I shared this in a previous thread. I have an old Craftsman miter saw with a guard that broke off probably 35 years ago. About 10 years ago I was cutting rafters for a wood shed and reached across to grab a piece of cutoff scrap and got my wrist in the blade. Got the bone, main artery, five...

    Thinking outside the box.

Sounds about my speed! Although I probably wouldn’t have noticed the color difference until after I bought them and got home. On the other hand depending on what kind of day I’m having I would think what the heck, since I can only see one side of the car at a time, I’d put one color on one side...

    Will UAW Strike?

The place I retired from had piece work until the early 90’s. Base rate for new hire’s was still lower and they had to work their way up the base rate pay scale each year. However piece work was the great equalizer. Once a new guy was trained and up to speed he could make as much or more than...

    Stupid Things I Have Done

I’m left handed and luckily cut the right. The right thumb and forefinger are the ones with no feeling so handling small things with them is tricky. I remind myself how much tougher it would be with only one hand.

    Stupid Things I Have Done

One of the many stupid things I’ve done happened while cutting wood shed rafters with an old electric miter saw. I had been cutting for awhile while listening to the radio and just kind of had a rhythm going as far as cutting loading and unloading the saw. l mindlessly made a cut and reached in...

    Truck cap 'camper shell'

I have had both ARE and Leer caps in the past and both were excellent. However in Oct 2021 I bought a new Leer cap for my 2018 Silverado and had to have the dealer send it back to the factory due to a large gap on each side of the rear door. The gap was so large that you could pull the door open...

    Flail mower blades

New member, long time reader. I have been looking at flail mowers and found what seems to be a good deal on a Peruzzo Elk Cross 1800 flail mower that was bought new but never used by the seller. The main use will be cutting an old hay field (not for hay) that is 90% orchard grass with some...
