    HAS ANYONE EVER THOUGHT OF....

I'm one of those few on here who has a tractor but no front end loader. Oh, I'd like to have one but haven't been able to make one or scrape up the $$ to buy one. BUT, if I did, I'd have one of these around without the tank to use as a "manlift cage". The idea occurred to me a few years ago and...

Starting to Have a Few Issues With My M4800

My Kubota M4800 su is a 2004 model. It's served me well and still is but I'm starting to have a few issues with it. 1) my key switch is getting "iffy". You have to find that "sweet spot" for it to make contact. 2) My temp gauge works about 1/3 of the time and 3) I noticed this last weekend the...

Free Grazers, Water and Cattle Rustlin'

Ok, ok we don't have too much "rustlin'" but we do have our share of free grazing around here. Now, I'm not new to the country or ranching or the farming way of life but free grazing is something that gets under my skin a little. We've got a fellow who used to own quite a bit of land around our...

Freightliner Pulling Machine- What Can You Tell Me About It?

My wife has a fellow trainer in the horse industry who has a trailer puller for sale and we were wondering what you guys can tell us about them. It's a Freightliner Sport Chassis with a Cat/Allison drivetrain. I think there are a few of you out there in TBN land who have something similar and...

Filled To The Rim.....5 1/2" of the wet stuff!

I guess I could have posted this in the Photos forum but it fits here as well. Last weekend (Easter 2011) we received right at 5 1/2" of rain over two days. According to the weatherman at one of our local stations we're still 5 1/2" behind for the year so that kind of lets you know how we were...

Well, Well, Well! There's air in my water....

Late Saturday's water supply seemed a little "airish". Not having worked on any water line to introduce air into my water system, I got a little concerned. The air was in both the hot and cold side and at all faucets and toilets so I knew it was in the whole water line. After studying on it a...

Had To Have A Hole Dug...Not Good!

Well, it finally happened. Like QRTRHRS we had to dig a hole this past Saturday. This all started on Friday. I went out about 5:45am and threw out some hay and broke the ice on the water troughs. No water in the ponds and having to keep water out for 5 horses. All seemed well so I headed on to...

Snow Chains, Snow Chains, Snow Chains....

I've had a set (2) of chains that an uncle gave me about 10 years ago. All this time I was thinking that they would fit my pickup tires. Well, after remembering I had them and needing them more and more in the last few years I thought I'd put them on my truck. I went to put them on prior to the...

Just A Few Gate Latches-Nuttin' Fancy

This thread is spur from another on a loafing shed/barn thread. The idea of this one came from it but also of one that Harvey Lacey had once on some gate latches he makes. One of these with the two horseshoes is a copy of one of his. Some of the others are ones I've used at other farms or...

Here's a few pics of an ongoing project. I built this "loafing shed" about 10yrs ago from a kit that I bought from Lumber2. The kit came with complete drawings and materials.
