    1998 LT-166, drive belt/tranny?

I have a much used LT-166 with the 48"deck. The poor thing gets a LOT of use for mowing and currently it refuses to go up a hill. Going back over the posts it appears the tranny is fairly weak and they are expensive to service. My question...Is this worth fixing or is this simply a weak design...

mounting blades on mid mount mower.....which is UP and down?

DUMB question I know...tried the worthless SEARCH feature...NO joy there. New Blades...60" mmm...mount the new blade with the part numbers UP? Meaning UP when the mower is on the ground, mounted on the tractor. The manual doesn't show the orientation well at all. Looks opposite of how I...

    B2620 died....

I was just mowing and my 2620 died. Threw the PTO into neutral, turned the key to restart and zero...not even dash lights. Checked the seat/kill switch and wires...looked fine. Cycle the key, remove key...doesn't matter...no nothing when the key is turned. Nothing under the hood appears...

    Inop clutch...intermittently!?!?

The clutch on my new 2620 has started to simply NOT work upon start up. I'll pull the tractor out...then go to engage the rear PTO and ....no clutch. The pedal pressure is also higher than when the clutch works regularly. I've checked all the linkage, as well as the hyd fluids. All OK. Today...

Mowing  ?? regarding mowing on sidehills...

I've got a new Kubota B2620 with a WOODS 5' rotary mower and a FEL for wt in frt. DO remove MMM when driving in rough terrain

I learned the hard way today WHY one should remove the MMM on their B series when driving in rocky, or rough terrain. I was up on my hilly area and somehow despite being in L range ran into a rock hidden in the grass and bent the rt side of the mower pretty badly. Hit the rock with the right...

    60" MMM bolt size?

On a current production 60" MMM the bolts that secure the blades appear to be 1 1/8". Converting 1.125" to millemeters yields 28.58mm . So are they 1 1/8" or 29mm?? FN in MT

fire extinguisher on a B series....

I've had the thought that mounting a small 2.5# dry chemical extinguisher on the B2620 might be a good idea. It gets VERY dry out here and any sort of a fire could not only destroy the tractor but could start a wildfire that could easily turn into a real mess. Anyone else have one mounted on...

    TiltMeter question...

I've got some hilly areas I'd like to mow, with both the MMM and the bushhog. With safety my prime concern I've thought of buying a TiltMeter. How MUCH "tilt" is allowed before your in trouble?? I know there are many other factors but on dry terrain, whats the guideline?? FN in MT

Gentlemen, Just wanted to Thank all of you for the input when I was researching my BX buy. I took your comments , weighed my options and ended up with a B series instead. My 2620 showed up yesterday and was quickly put to work pulling up a bunch of old fenceposts. Also did some mowing...

Pulling up posts w/ 2620 FEL

Gentlemen, I've NEVER pulled up posts with a FEL and have about forty to do. They are all old wood posts, 12-14" diam that were sunk 2 1/2-3 feet. Pulled a few tonight but being new to this I was pretty cautious. I raised the bucket and at 3-4 foot up the post I slowly pushed them back and...

    Do I need BIGGER tools??

I know ALL of us wish for a bigger tool...but with my wrenches up to a mere 7/8" and 1/2" sockets to a mere 1". I may be lacking in the tool Department. With a B2620 on the way.......And doing my own maintenance a fact of life. Other than a Service Manual, some specific fluids and OEM...

    Greetings and my Kubota dilemma.....

I've got 1.5 to 2 acres of lawn to mow. I also mow several acres of rock free, smooth fields surrounding the house once or twice a year. I've got 25+ acres of rolling ground, half covered with cactus, yuccas and buckbrush. I'd like to get a bush hog so I can mow it regularly to get rid of...
