Mike ,I think that now is a good time to buy for me during the slump. I draw police retirement and drive a school bus and my wife is working on her 21st year as a dispatcher for the County sheriffs Department. So it is unlikely that our financial picture will change due to the downturn in the economy.

Yes, we got sucked in hook, line and sinker and bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee this Tuesday. We have a 1992 LeBaron convertible and it's getting a bit long in the tooth so we had been talking about trading. Also, the convertible has a miniscule trunk and barely adequate rear-seat sitting for two adults (note rationale building as days go by). Anyway, we looked at length at the Ford Windstar minivan (0 percent financing for FIVE YEARS) and my wife liked it, but holy, moly; I really don't want to drive a big, ugly (my opinion only, obviously) box for an indefinate period. So we looked further and finally had a short list of the Ford Explorer and the Jeep Cherokee. I wanted to buy local if possible and we did find a vehicle we liked. The Jeep has a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty on the power train and we got it for 0 percent financing. Boy are they hungry for business!! By the way, the salesman told us that the Jeep comes with Mobil 1 oil from the factory. I'm glad because I've been using Mobil 1 for many years. Anyway, here we are with payments again... Anyone want to buy a convertible?

Glenn, We saw a Jeep grand Cherokee on the lot the other day, a beautiful mo-chine, but a little too rich for this old tired blood. You made a great choice, congrads to you!

Wife and I bought Grand Caravan Sport AWD. Took the $1500 rebate instead of 0%. Sold the 97 Explorer XLT with 97000 miles to CARMAX for $6500 which was $1500 more than dealer would give in trade. Really wanted an Expedition but my 12 yearold dog doesn't jump up as good as she used to. She can step up into the van. Marty

Gary, exact same truck I was looking at,that new Diesel is one smooth engine.Problem was the truck would'nt fit in the garage, too long.Soo,I ended up with Ford F-150 Super Crew, still has 4 doors and fits in the garage just fine.
