There is a glow plug. Look at the intake manifold. It is right in the middle. There is no mention of it in the manual (but it is in the wiring diagram). It appears to be temperature sensitive. In cold weather, when you turn the key, the red light next to the key comes on, signilaing the glow plug is activated. After 20 to 30 seconds, the light goes out - plug stops glowing. If you listen, you can hear the plug switch off.
