08 B7800 Possible Purchase

Well, you're in the ballpark, I'd say. B7800 won't drive any fence posts, but you can run a 5' bushhog with it or 6' finish mower. Great size for a 5' tiller. A loaded manure spreader would push it around pretty good unless you have a real small one and keep it on level ground. On the other hand, it's a real handy size for cleaning up in the barn and maneuvering inside.

Are you going to want to move any round bales? Any implements that might require hydraulic remotes? It's not a good fit for either of these needs.

30 HP minimum is a good target and good fit. I'd suggest R4 tires, not turf tires. Most are sold with R4 tires so that's probably what's on it. (?)

The B7800 is a pretty good fit actually. If you think you're going to be moving any round bales or want to go a little larger, expand your search to the L-series tractors. You can still stay in the lower 30 HP range.

I had a B for ten acres and horse/barn duties. Driveway grading, snow removal (blade only) and the occasional trip into the woods for tree work. Trail maintenance too.

It came along when we bought two more properties. Same work load, except for the increase in pasture sizes and the ability to run hay equipment. I sold it and upsized to the M.

I should have kept the B for around the house and barn work. Even on the biggest property it would still be of great use. Just not for hay duty.

For ten acres and the type of work I was doing, the size, HP and weight were perfect.

Thanis again, for the information! All good points, I now have a line on a older JD 2440 so hopefully that works. Out! 60 HP, so that should meet my needs comes with a brush hog and blade on back too! !/2 the price of the other B7800. going to look today hopefully it fits the bill!
