I have been up late every night watching. GO USA!

It's fun seeing sports you normally don't, badmitton, trap shooting, etc.

Plus Phelps is amazing!!!

yeah....

my wife just about always watches them..........this is the first time i've actualy payed attention.......i've watched phelps more than anything.......i like how "average" and humble he is.....much respect from me!

he reminds me a lot of Lance Armstrong. A kinda of "avg" guy that loves what he does, and does a ton of training to be the best.

I'm watching - but living on the left-coast nothing's live. Well, guess I should be more accurate with that statement. According to NBC's little "LIVE" graphic - everything's "live" - but then again, I know better. Honestly, in an era where they can synchronize a live "WR" green line to illustrate the progress of a race, don't you think they could also remove the word "live" when it's clearly not. Come on NBC what do you take us for?

Other than that. . . great coverage. Phelps, to echo the sentiments of others is amazing - in a class by himself .

The pool design has to be a factor but it would help everyone in the pool. Phelps seems to be blowing everyone out of the water. So while the pool design might help him it would also help the other swimmers.

It is helping everyone, world records are being broken by many others, too. Phelps is just beating everyone in the races he is in. Of course his most exciting win wasn't even his doing (Actually, he didn't even win his leg). Jason Lezak had an absolutely amazing race on Tuesday to help the USA win the 4x100m freestyle relay. He was a full body length behind that mouthy French guy (Bernard) in the last 50 meters and passed him. I highly recommend watching that video if you haven't seen it!

Something about the Olympics gets me excited about sports, the normal stuff doesn't. I'd rather be logging seat time!

It's nice to watch regular people who don't have bloated bank accounts, sports agents, promoters, etc. hawking every move the athlete makes, perform in a sport that they LOVE! You can see the love of sport in their eyes and not the love of money. good stuff!!

After the faked opening, a poor little girl being told she can sing but is too ugly to be seen, allegations of cheating already and my opinion regarding the Olympics has just been reinforced.

While I agree on your statement about the poor little girl I still enjoy watching some of the swimming events ! I swam on our HS team and while thats a zillion years ago, actually only back in the sixties, I can relate to a small degree what the swimmers go through in training ! My event was the 400 yd freestyle, and back in the day that was 16 trips up and down the HS 25 yd pool ! I wont repeat times to embarass myself !

The girl in the opening was a bad thing, but a great show otherwize. The "cheating"... no way are those Chinese gymnasts 16 years old. I'm talking about the girls. They say they leave home at 3 years old to start a life of training. I'm sure our athletes parents went way out of their way for a dream and for many it has paid off. However, how many of us would let a 3 year old go to a training camp with I think once a year visitation? Sorry but that isn't what the spirit of the games is about IMHO.

I'm watching in amazement. It's sad to say, but in the back of my mind I'm thinking some kind of funny business is going on. All the WR being broke?

There are alot of things with the pool they are using that's making them a tick faster. Also, that Speedo suit has been proven to be faster than bare skin. I do not think there are any performance enhancing drugs involved, too much peeing in the cup for that.
You could not have genetically engineered a better swimmer than Phelps. He has the perfect body for swimming and he's got nothing but stronger the last 4 years. Every once in a while there is just a dominant person in a particular sport. Gretzky, Jordan and that Tiger kid are just a few that come to mind.

These are FACTS? 3 years old and parents volunteer to relinquish their children to the coaches?! Obviously they don't hold their children in the same regard we do. Or not. Been reading some awful things about what some American parents have done with their children. There must be extremes on both sides of the world i think. I guess it's good that they at least don't "put down" the kids that end up not performing to standards. They don't do they? I mean, I'm already pretty shocked over the news I've read here so far, they don't destroy the under achievers the way we would a horse or something, right? Man! Now I'm gonna have some bad dreams!!
