Too bad Ford is having so much trouble. I guess, "Quality is Job 1" is just a slogan after all.

Certainly, they are proving they have another "Bright Idea" about every other year when it comes to diesels...

Recalling the recall: Ford has more wiring harness issues

FoMoCo sent out a directive to Ford and Lincoln/Mercury dealers today informing them that around 225,000 vehicles are being re-recalled after it was discovered that the wiring harness used during the original recall wasn't quite up to snuff. The second round of recalls involves a faulty fuse that doesn't offer enough protection if a short circuit occurs. Ford will be notifying the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the issue, but until NHTSA has all the information and dealers have the appropriate parts, Ford won't be notifying owners until the middle of next month.

The full list of vehicles* includes...
1992-2003 Econoline
1992-98 Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis
1993 Bronco
1995-97 F-series stripped chassis
1993-95 Taurus SHO
1992-95 Town Car
1993 F series
*Only gasoline-powered models are affected.

I have never had a problem with recalls. To me it lets me know they are trying to make it right. As long as the dealer takes good care of me while my vehicle is being serviced thats all that matters. I have had Honda's, Toyotas, Fords, Mopars, and GM's. They have all had a recall sooner or later. What makes the difference is the dealer. I drive past 3 Ford dealers to get my service due to attitude and ignorance. They were unable to win my business in the first place so why go back. My last a final Dodge was a nightmare, 2 trannys, AC compressor, Power Steering, Radiator Cooling Fan, and a few other items all before 50,000 miles. The dealer was great and I would actually recommend them. My last GM blew the motor at under 30,000 miles and the transfer case at 45,000 miles. It took a year and a lawyer to get that one settled. I would love to burn down that dealership. So in the end it comes down to service befor and after the sale. Recalls are a good thing.

To me, recalls mean that the parts being recalled were improperly engineered or not tested properly in the first place. A sign of rushing products to the market. Is that what we want to trust our lives, property & cargo to?

I left Ford after spending over $10,000 on transmissions that couldn't stand up to a Yanmar diesel and a 6L diesel that cost Ford more money in warranty issues than any problem by any car company in history!

Ford & Peugot in 1.5 yrs. Bonjure! :D

Only Ford could manage this feat.

I guess I'm happy that they at least identify such problems, unlike some foreign makes - but c'mon guys, get it right the 2nd time at least.
