09/23/06- No Cracks

I got my CK 25 in Nov. '05 too, (I thought it was an '06 model since they had to order it, could be wrong though) but unfortunately I have 4 small cracks on my KL 130 loader. I haven't checked to see if they have grown any since I first noticed them and informed my dealer, I'll have to check.

As I recall, Becky (when she was still participating on TBN) started a thread asking owners with cracked loader to post their serial numbers etc so she could pass these along to Kioti. Never heard any results.

It does seem to me to be more of a design than material issue but I suppose the two are always linked anyway.

It's too bad she's not still around. As I recall one of their customers had the issue and Dick Batchelder repaired it and it was as new. Obviously some skill involved.

She no longer participates. If you remember, she got flamed big time for her interest. Some folks said it was Kioti's job to do the research, some said they had already posted the information in the original thread, etc... At the time, I couldn't blame her for saying "Who needs this".

MossRoad,

As Dodgeram has pointed out, my loader is the KL120 (CK20 tractor) while his is a KL130 loader (CK30 tractor). The designs are similar but the inspection plate opening is different as you noted. Here is a photo of the KL120 inspection port. I'll post photos of the 75hr and 114hr corner cracks in another post when I get to make up composite photos for easier comparison. The post I made in the closed thread was of the corner in the upper left side of this photo.

Thanks for that extra picture and description. I can see the crack that you highlighted with the close up pick. Stress at corners. We have a similar situation with a corner on the 48" brush hogs over in the Power Trac forum. I just welded mine up and will wait to see if it cracks again. If so, I'll weld reinforcement around the corner and that will be that.

Seems like a gusset of 3" X 6" X 1/4" steel at a 45 degree angle across each corner would take care of your problem pretty quick. Probably less than an hour repair. Then a re-paint of the area and you'd be good to go for many hours of operation.

Hope you get a satisfactory resolution. :)

Yea, but we miss her. No civilizing female influence on the Kioti forum.

She did get flamed but as I recall it was largely a result of a rather brash attack of her own doing as she jumped into this loader issue with both feet kicking before bothering to read through some of the earlier posts. I think as a dealer she should have been a bit more careful. Still, I wish she and some of the others who disappeared in June would return.

I would imagine that would be a good fix and I have thought about doing it myself. However, Kioti says they are working on a properly engineered fix and as my loader is (or was) still on warranty when I reported it to my dealer, I figured I'd wait to see what they come up with. Last thing I want to do right now is attempt a repair myself that voids the warranty.

For comparison here is a picture of a KL130 with cracks.

Wow. Even with those extra plates in there it just moved the stress point in. Maybe some sort of box beam is needed as a cross member. That channel type isn't cutting it.

Again, thanks for the pictures.
