@Huntinguy I have both cartridge and water softener like sediment filters, and the water softener version wins hands down. It is self cleaning, high flow, and ours will handle 80gpm, but we never run more than 19gpm through it. I would put the iron removal filter upstream of the sediment filter if you can. I would also use "Iron out" type of water softener salt to get any remaining iron out of your water softener resin during the regeneration cycle. (Or you can add in citric acid to your salt, but it is kind of a pain to layer it in.)
(They make iron filters as well. If you have a water analysis, their engineers will design what you need.)
