Send that senator a gold star, two if he can get the ethanol reduced to 5%.

If (s)he can get it to 0%, a position for LIFE w/o the need for re-election is my vote!

Around here some stations have recently started carrying ethanol free gas as an option. It cost about $0.10 a gallon more than regular, but I buy it every time I can. Every vehicle I have tried it in has increased the mileage by 1-2mpg.

And around here they just QUIT selling ethanol free gas:mad:
Been buying it for all my small engine stuff and now can't.
I'm told the distribution tank farm that serves this area no longer gets it in and stores it so...out of luck.
I can buy no-ethanol leaded race gas at a few stations for around $5 a gallon, and may try that in my 2 stroke stuff...

Yes, VERY destructive in most engines. I have clearly documented that I lost 10% fuel economy in my car running the same routes, same speeds, same stops etc. over the last two years. If this garbage is all we can get, our vehicles will drop another 5% in fuel economy over regular "gasoline".

With it taking somewhere around 1.3 gallons of fossil fuels to produce 1 gallon of ethanol, which has far less btu's per gallon, I fail to see any possible goal except to destroy existing older vehicles, lawn equipment and other small engine powered equipment. That's a really great goal in today's economy and exactly what I'd expect out of this administration. No matter how you want to slice it, adding alcohol from food products to our fuel is an extremely stupid idea that will have the greatest chance of literally taking food off the tables of our poor people.

Time to vote anyone who supported this disastrous boondoggle out of office!!

You mean "Al -- I'll do anything to get elected even drive through ethanol fuel even though I know it takes more energy to make than it gives back, but I sure wouldn't lie about global warming just to become a billionaire -- Gore" ?

Wouldn't that have to be true in order for him to know it?

I think it is true...

E85 Fuel is called "FLEX FUEL". It has been on the market now for several years. Walk thru a parking lot and look at the rear of vehicles. If the vehicle was manafactured to use E85 FLEX FUEL it will say "FLEX FUEL" on the rear trunk or tail gate. E85 in some locations is cheaper than regular gas. People have started to try and use E85 in vehicles not manafactured for E85. Damage could occur in these vehicles. People are also upset when they stop for fuel and see the E85 fuel is cheaper than the regular gasoline and they cannot use it. Some ignore the warning not to use and use anyway. Gasoline Stations that offer E85 are not readily aavailable in any location. Do a GOOGLE search on E85 and then look at the Stations selling E85 in your area. Any station that sells E85 fuel has the pump labeled as such and if one put E85 fuel in their vehicle it is an intentional act, not something the gas company slipped by them under the cloak of darkness.

First off to the op 10% ethonol is refered to as E10 15 % would be E15.

As far as E85 goes, my work truck is a V8 dodge dakota 2007 model. It is labled on the tailgate as flex fuel. I filled up a few times with it when i was in an area with it. It reduced my real world mileage 33%. That truck on real gas will get between 14-16mpg (100% gas) on E85 i saw between 8-10 mpg. Hardly worth the price difference.
