I have a 10 gallon tank sandblaster that DOES NOT work. It has the ridiculous little valve for a gun. Is there something that I might be doing wrong. It blasts for one second and stops. The tip is not clogged. I have a 26 gallon air compressor at the other end. Anyone know of a good but fairly low priced sandblaster or even a cabinet out there?

I bought an attachment for my pressure washer to sand blast. Now it's not for every sand blasting job but it sure works slick. The water keeps the sand from floating in the air and with 1,800 psi it'll move some rust and paint fast. If you have a pressure washer you might want to check them out.

I had to replace the floor in my cattle trailer. Talk about major rust. I caught it in time too. Got it sealed up now. I ran 1,000 pounds of sand through it on that job. Once folks found out I had one the women in the area bring all their rusty cast iron pots and such. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It's a good way to meet women. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Joking aside, it does some pretty work. Just have to get it dry fast and prime it.

Just thought I'd throw that idea up here. Have a good one.

Is your blaster a siphon feed or pressure feed??

If it is a siphon feed (cheaper model), the abrasive has to be DRY. I mean really dry. If not, it will not feed. The gun needs a small hole to accelerate the media. If the media is at all damp, it won't work.

If you have a siphon feed, dump it and get a pressure blaster. Much less fussy, though more expensive.

It is a pressure feed sand blaster.

Don't now if this will help or not but once in awhile when mine stops, I blow air from the nozzle back to the tank (reverse flow). This will clear any restrictions from damp sand or moisture build up in the system - Lewis

I bought this one because it's made for the pressure washer I have. Easy connection. Push and twist. Wet Sandblasting It says in the add it's for all ele. models but it works on my Gas model too. Same hookup.

Northern tools sell one for larger pressure washers. I think it'll move 700 pounds per hour at 3,000 psi.

You probaly have the little valve most blasters come with. You need a larger type deadman valve. They sell them in a nearby import store called Wood Sales. I know of a few folks that make theyre own blasters out of a refrigerant tank and the 10 dollar deadman kit.
