100 acres - What to buy?

Take a look at Bush Hog brand. www.bushhog.com

If you need a heavy duty cutter that will clear your land quickly then look at a 3715 15' flex wing cutter. Its the heaviest cutter that they build. Also as previously mentioned Bush Whacker, Rhino, and John Deere are all good cutters too.

As far as tractors go Iwould recommend a John Deere 6215 4 wheel drive with a cab and loader. It's 72 pto hp and would be about right for a hay operation on 100 acres. They are heavy built and have the longest lasting clutches available among other great features.

For hay equipment if you are in an area that gets a lot of rain then you will want a disc mower conditioner to cut with. Hay that is conditioned drys quicker so you can bale it quicker so there's less chance of it getting rained on. You'll also need a good quality hay tedder. Id recommend a 17' and there are many good brands like Kuhn, H&S, Krone, Vermeer, and New Holland among several others. For a round baler you could look at John Dere, New Holland, Hesston, New Idea, Krone, Gehl, Vicon, and Vermeer to name some.

With 100 acres you are a little beyond a Kubota and I think a Deere would be the better choice.

Daryl, are you OK? Did you just miss this one, or have you been kidnapped? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
