In the market for a new min 85 PTO power utility tractor with cab. Have researched a bit in area and narrowed down to New Holland t4.105 JD 5100E and Kubota M9960. Not an expert looking for some good advice. Will use tractor for bucket work and brush mowing ( 15' batwing) mainly. Any advice appreciated.

You should drive and operate each unit to see what fits your needs better.
Each tractor is setup a little different..
I always tell my customers to operate the machine that way they now what to expect.

look at the kubota 108 tractor.its a tad bigger than what your looking at.the frame on the jd 5100 isnt that heavy built.so you better really do some looking an thinking before you go with that tractor.plus they are about $57,000 with out the fel.an for that money if your bent on jd you can get a 6105D cab 4x4 power recerser for $54,000 with out fel an $58,000 setup for fel but no fel.

Welcome to TBN. Like has been mentioned spend a lot of time test driving any tractor to get a feel, many of the features don't become comfortable till after a few hours of use.

I would take a look at the NH TS6.110. It's a mid range tractor without a lot of bells, but it does have a power shuttle option. The 110 would put you at 110 engine and 90 PTO HP. From what i have seen, they are reasonably priced so you may be surprised at the tractor you can get for the money.

It you like red better, the Farmall 110A is the same thing.

I am planning on lining up testing all three colors. Kind of hard to get a feel for use except for snow now. The 5100E does not show a 1000 PTO option. Mower is 1000 big spline. Will talk to NH dealer about the ts6. 110. Hoping the NH dealer is a little more flexible off their list price. Really like the specs of their machines. Going from 55 HP JD 2155 to a bit more of a tractor here. Lots to learn. Thanks for suggestions will def look into more options.

You can get 1000 pto option on a 100e. (dealer add on) I was looking at models in the 70 to 80 horsepower range, ended up with JD85e. I dont agree the frame is light on 100e, that tractor with a cab is 8000lbs, The NH weights only a couple hundred more and the kubota is just under 7k. I was very impressed with the frame on the JD, its very comparable the JD's M series.

Pretty much what others said, we have an M8540, but could have gone with New Holland, John Deere etc. The M60 Series is an improveent over the M40, so I've no experience with them. When we were looking, NH and John Deere had larger cabs and you can get an instructor seat in some, but I don't think you can in the Kubota, may be important, maybe not.

Take a look at the LS 7040CPS if you want to save some cash, but get lots of standard features. It has 97/85 HP, 40F & 20 R speeds, Power Shuttle with electronic Hi/Lo, 540/750/1000 and ground speed PTO, 3 remotes, rear wiper, stereo and a couple other things that don't come immediately to mind.

They do have an instructor's seat shown in the owner's manual, I do have a part number and they do have them in stock but for some reason refuse to sell them! Something about liability but I'm sure if it made it past Deere's and NH lawyers, LS should have no problem. I'm not giving up yet........

I went and looked at the kubota m9960, I didn't like there build quality, you could wiggle the dash 2.5" either direction, the cab glass rattled and didn't like their transmission. I ended up getting a john deere 5083e, it is a much nicer tractor for less money, we got ours with 380 hours set up the way we wanted for $41,600. The kubota was over 50k. And for thought, the jd is not a light frame, we have ballast in all four tires and that's it no extra weight, I thing runs 9500-11000 lbs.

For what it's worth. Our farmers that farm this place bought a TN 85. He doesn't like it. He says it is simply built too light and would prefer a large frame tractor.

Welcome to TBN. As you can see, recommendations on how to spend your money come easy & cheap. Drive before you buy and don't have buyers remorse. I have access to Kubota, Kioti, New Holland, JD, Versatile and probably a few others I can't think of right now. I test drove them all - except Versatile - and chose Kubota because of the way it operates and dealer service. DO NOT forget to check on dealer service. Have fun

If I was spending your money :D I'd definitely look at the P7040 Deerherd mentioned.

LS P7040CPS, 97hp, 7,100lbs, 540/750/100/ground speed PTO, 3 standard remotes, 6K+ 3pt lift capacity, self-leveling loader with 3,500lbs capacity to max height (similar to Deere 563 loader...slightly higher lift/slightly lower weight), 40 fully synchronized forward speeds, 20 reverse, power shuttle, with creeper, and hi/low and a bunch of other stuff standard....I drool over one at the dealer regularly. Under $50K out the door...

I looked at the specs on the LS. Very good price for the unit. No dealer with in 3hrs of me. Not real comfortable with that. The NH dealer keeps wanting to price me the 12×12 power shuttle he has on lot, but is it that much more useful than the mech shuttle. $2000 seems like a lot for it. I am getting a good deal on t4.105 with loader for $56k with everything I want plus the power shuttle. Feel like its good deal but don't know if I want to spend the extra. JD and kubota specs and priced tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

We traded a tractor with 12/12 synchronized shuttle in for a 12/12 hydraulic shuttle and while we didn't trade it for that reason, it sure has been worth the added cost as we do a lot of loader work.

I think you should be able to get into a 100e loaded up pretty good for around the same price as the NH. I also looked at LS, for me I just couldnt get past the way they looked, there also fairly light compared to the NH and Deere. I also had hard time finding many reviews on their larger machines. When I priced Kubota they where a little cheaper then the deere. When you price the Deere try to get at least 15% off list, I've heard of people getting 20%. I ended up at close to 18%. One last thing, If your going to spend this kind of money, it would be crazy not to get the power reverser.

I just priced a 5085E with loader right at $50k. A 5100E should be about $5k more. I personally like the cab E series from JD. I liked the Kubota 9960 as well. However, I couldn't afford either of them and ended up with the 5075E cab. It's nice, but not enough to pull your 15 ft batwing on a routine basis.

Regardless on what color tractor you decide, you should end up with the tractor that has the features and options best suited to your needs and wants and how you are using your tractor.

In the OP, loader work and running a cutter were two stated uses. For loader work the power shuttle is great. Actually, for any work that requires numerous directional changes, such as plowing snow, using a grapple etc, IMHO it can't be beat. Do you NEED it? Nope. Many on here do just fine without.

Same as having 36-40 forward speeds and electronic HI/LO. Can you do without? Yes you can of course. But knowing you have the correct gearing to run any cutting/haying/tillage equipment at a good pace is sweet! Ever spent hours on end wishing for a gear or two one way or the other? I did but not anymore, especially with a 540/750/1000 PTO.

Heck, two years ago I didn't even know they made an electronic HI-LO and now I wouldn't own a tractor without it. If you run it in HI and need a little more grunt while plowing/cutting it's a button push away. For loader/grapple work I run it in low and hit HI when I want more ground speed.

I really blame John Deere for wanting all these options, it was from testing out an M series. If I hadn't found the LS I would have probably bit the bullet on the Deere. And if I don't get this observers seat figured out before my grandsons get old enough, I just might have to get one! I never was opposed to green.....

Good luck in your search!
