Hello,
I live in MN and am starting a hobby farm with 2-3 cows, pigs, and chickens on 20 acres. I need to get a tractor that will support the starting up of the farm. Major tasks are snowplowing, fence post digging, brush chopping and a small amount of land clearing, haybale and feed moving, small garden tilling. I'm sure there will be more tasks that the tractor will definitely come in handy for. Haying is done by another farmer that keeps part of the hay. Land is flat, and about 1/3rd wooded. Also, I have a very long driveway that will require a plow in the winter.
Looking for input on aspects that I may not have considered with the Kubota L4060 vs TYM T474. The implements I need will require 2 remotes on the rear and a decent PTO HP, along with an extra hydro. for the FEL. I want a cab as well.
The Kubota dealership is 1 hour away and the TYM is 1.5 hours. Both dealerships have been good to work with in getting quotes, seem to have good reviews, and want my business. The price tag on the Kubota L4060 is what's causing me to look at TYM, $14K more for a similar featured tractor is a hard pill to swallow. TYM is an unknown brand to me, so I am just curious about how they stack up against the Kubota's stellar reputation.
I have also looked at the MF 1840M and New Holland Boomer 40, both dealerships are about 1 hour away but have local service trucks. I liked them both as well, but the Kubota and TYM have better lifting capacity and HP.
I want a new tractor and both have good financing deals that are comparable.
Budget is important, but so is a reliable tractor that will be there when I need it. I can do regular maint. myself so that's not a huge concern.
Seeing if anyone has experience with either of these and could sway me in a direction.
Thanks for the input!
