100 hr Service

I just did my 100 hr. service on my L3400 gear drive. Air filter was sure dirty, but my real surprise was how much the fan belt had stretched --- Wow!!!! I could turn the alternator pulley by hand before I made adjustment.

Kubota manual state's to only change the oil at 100 hrs. I changed the filter as well.

In general, rubber parts age with calendar hours/months/years not "use hours". What year is your L3400?

Just wondering what all you did, and how long it took you. I took my NH to the dealer for the 100 hr mtse and it cost me almost $400.00. I was expecting $100 to $150. Boy was I surprised.

2005, 1st yr. only had 17 hr's on machine. 2nd Yr., made 50 hr. mark for for Kubota required maintenance.

NH? different deal, i.e : different labor hrs / cost of oil / filters etc.

plus cost of pick-up and deliv. for machine.



My total time to do the Kubota service check, 3 Hr.s + - (Beer's)

My L3240 manual suggests _replacing_ a whole slew of rubber parts EVERY two years _regardless_ of usage hours ( e.g. radiator hoses, power steering oil lines, fuel lines, HST oil line, lift cylinder hose line, etc.).

I noticed that many folks posting on this forum have very low usage/yr. I'm sure its tempting to say "hey, I hardly use that tractor. its almost brand new". But these parts don't wear out due to usage. They wear out due to calendar age. And BTW they usually fail catastrophically

FWIW I have a couple a very, very low milage vintage cars and the parts that fail are almost invariably _rubber_ ( e.g. belts, hoses, fuel lines, etc.).

I don'tknow if I was supposed to change these, but there are rubber connections on the NH about 3 or 4 inches long that connect the stiff lines for the hydrolics just under the tractor. I didn't even know they were there, but at 400 hours one of them blew while I was mowing and I now have a nice big oval brown strip in my yard where the hydrolic fluid gushed out. that's one way to have the fluid changed. That was annother $150.00 to have these connectors replaced.
