Picked up a Kimber Ultra Crimson Carry in .45 about 6 months ago (a christmas present to myself). It is by far the nicest shooting pistol I have ever owned, very light, only has a 3inch barrell and easy to conceal. It has become my carry weapon of choice. I don't think the recoil is any worse than my large frame ruger 9mm. never leave home without it.

Been looking at a full sized 1911. Lot's of choices out there. Looked at a Springfield parkerized version for $800. Funny thing was, there was a Kimber next to it for $829. Both new pistols. Kimber looked better, but I'm looking for a shooter. When I asked the salesman why there wasn't that much of a difference in price, he pointed out that the SA had adjustable sights, were as the Kimbers sights were fixed. To get into a Kimber with adjustable sight you'd be looking at about $1100. If the SA shoots anything as good as the bi-tone XD 45 that I carry I woundn't hesitate to go with the Springfield. a 1911 is on my list but I'll wait for the SA to go on sale.
