1020 fel bleeding off while running

On most of this series the fuel tank is fully forward then between the fuel tank and the radiator (and behind the side screens is the air filter canister, then the radiator. Don't recall seeing anything else other than the sender unit fuel guage wires. Never heard of a forward mounted hydraulic tank on these tractors.

I would think my 820 is very similar to your 1020.

There is a hydraulic reserve tank between the radiator and fuel tank (above the hydraulic pump) on every 1020 I've seen (I have a '66 and a '72). Since the trans pump (gear pump) only runs when the clutch is out, the reserve is needed for shifting gears, etc, to keep the main (closed center) pump fed.

I've had a similiar issue on my '72 1020. Really bad looking hydraulic oil, completely clogged trans screen and a missing screen in the main hydro pump. Every time my loader quits I pull the stroke control valve out of the main pump, clean and reinstall and it'll come back after awhile. Hopefully one more oil change will get it all out!

Interesting, my 820 has an open system with a gear pump, so the 1020 must have a closed variable volume pump sytem similar to the larger tractors. Learn something new every day.:D
