oil pressure light on my 1030 came on after a few minutes running and won't go out. tractor has 1300 hrs. just changed oil/filter 10 hrs ago. found the sensor by the filter housing, removed the small bolt holding the electrical connection, disconnected it and ran engine and a small amount of oil came out through the bolt hole. Is this normal?. anyone know what size socket needed to remove the sending unit from block. My set only goes to 7/8-too samll, so have to go to town to buy bigger socket. do I need a special guage to check oil pressure and what should the pressure be thanks

If oil is coming out of the sending unit, it needs to be replaced. I got mine from NAPA for my 1030. I used an adjustible wrench to get it off.

I agree, sounds like the sender is gone. You can take off the sender and give it the fountain pressure test, oil should fly about 20 feet. (kidding). /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Any oil pressure gauge should work, and anything over 40psi should be fine. But my old CJ3B would hold about 5psi hot at an idle, about 40 going down the road. It was that way for about 15 years and still going when I sold it.
