Oh, Eddie Walker I thought of your solution when I saw the last picture walking to the tractor this morning, but my Uncle sold his dozer several months ago.

Don, that "Eddie Walker" solution is the real deal. It looks to be at least 2' long. I haven't seen a coral snake since I was about 16. That's a beaut.

Oh yes, there should be a "Plan Z." It's called avoid the edge of ponds. It happened twice to me with two tractors. I'm a slow learner. I haven't put the blue one under yet.

Sorry about that Eddie, I thought you would NOT be scared of the "PRETTY" snake. :D

Scott, one interesting thing I did encounter was that when I used the rear differential lock it had the same effect as using the brake to turn the tractor toward the pond. Only the top rear wheel got a little traction. The rocks I got from my gravel pile (see attachment) just disappeared under the tire.

Jim, ....excuse me while I laugh a bit:D :D :D :D ,,,
OK, Jim, Plan "Z" is the only way. I don't know about your pond but mine is, being used as a cattle pond and it stunk. After baking for 2 day in the 107+ temp my black ruts are like hardened cement. I'm glad I got out when I did or I might have needed a chisel.

Don,

I have a very colorful vocabulary for you from five years in the Marine Corps, but since this is a family show, I'll just tell you what Steph said. "That's not right." hahaha

Don, you just don't know how much I identify with your getting stuck. When I saw the water only about 18" away from your tractor's wheels, it was complete deja vu, including the smell. Somewhere along the lake at my place, there is a crosstie buried about 18" deep below the mud. Once I got the tractor out, I didn't have enough energy left ot dig out the crosstie.

All ponds with that black mud smell like hog pens whether you have cattle in them or not. It's organic decomposition any way you look at it. Like your mud, the stuff I got out of my pond got rock hard after it dried. Maybe it's like using straw and mud to make sun-dried bricks.
