I am not sure what the best two or three brands are. I can only speak for the one that I have. I have been running a Bush Hog brand 3210 offset for over two years now. If for some reason I had two buy another one, I would buy the same one again.

I really can't say for sure; guess it depends on what you want to spend, some commercial models made by Schulte will last most of us forever, but the price I've heard is pretty steep. We use Land Pride in our smaller mowers and we are on our third year with a Woods DS1260 10' model. I'm sure there are other makes like Bush Hog or others just as good, I just don't have any experience with them.

A 3210 would be my choice. Center pull, offset, trailing, semi-mount, fully mounted. However you want/need it.

i run a howse 120HD. it's a 3pt model but can be run semi-mount. good and hd, and was actually cheaper than the kodiak which had more crude looking welds.
laminated tail wheels and manual turnbuckle jacks on the rear wheel bar that can be converted with a kit to hyd.. or you can home-convert easilly too. came with a torque limiter on the main drive shaft. i've had -0- issues with mine. have used it since 2002. used to pull it behind a NH 7610s but now it lives on a ford 5000. it only gets a half season of mowing now as I added a batwing mower. I alternate mowings as I can get the corners better with the 10'er

I pull a 10' Mahindra (Kodiak) and have no complaints. Soundguy - the welds are not rough on mine .

all i can say is back in 2002 I was looking for a 10' mower.
I looked at jd, howse, and kodiak, plus a couple others at auction.
the kodiak and howse were very close in price.. the howse had better looking welds.
might have been JUST that unit.. or kodiak might have better welds now 10 years in the future!

I got a 3209 that I picked up used. Mine is a 3pt hitch type, but basically works as a semi mount as well when I extend the hydraulic top link all the way. Been very pleased with it.

We have a Woods that has been the best piece of equipment we ever bought. The smoothness of the cut is almost as good as a finishing mower. We all fight to get to use it instead of the two 15 foot batwings even though it is only 10 feet wide. Very pleasing to use and to the eye when you get through. We pull it behind a 70 hp 3 cylinder New Holland and there is no tendency to bog down at all.

I like the Woods 10' cutter, although my neighbor likes his John Deere 10' cutter. I think that in addition to brand you need to look at how you will use the cutter, some brands offer a light, medium, and heavy duty 10' cutter, and they are available in pull type or 3 point hitch.
For my needs I am using a Woods medium duty 10 foot pull type and a Woods heavy duty 6 foot three point hitch cutter. The 10' cutter leaves a great cut and is a joy to use in open areas. The 6' cutter I can take anywhere and it can handle 3" material, it also makes a great counterweight.
