I was on a board that was free at first but wanted money and turned into to a pay board when I had my other tractor. I know running a website takes time and money but I paid for that site to keep my tractor running. Many great people on there with the same motives I had. Friendly and very helpful to say the least. I couldn't take the down time any longer and constant repairs needed. I bit the bullet, took the loss and now have a tractor I can go out and turn the key and continue working. I'm thankful I had the money to do it. If you don't mind working on tractors { more than normal} buy a cheap one because they do get the same job done with a comparable hp. To me time is money and i'd rather be tractoring. Everyone has their own opinions and I respect them. I made the choice that was beneficial to me... Not trashing, bashing, complaining or bragging...

I disagree with people not knowing how to use the search function of TBN. This site is a forum, which means debate, information and yes, sometimes controversery. That being said, it's not a reference site like an online encyclopedia. Posting new threads which may be old, tired and posted "hundreds of times" is what this site is all about. There'd be no interaction without it and TBN isn't a library, it's a place of camaraderie and shared interests.

Of course there's always the option of a disgruntled TBN surfer doing a search to see if the post he is about to read is a retread or not, ;), (search function works both ways)!

My nickels worth......

Amen!!

When I first started perusing this website, long before I became a member I noticed the Kubota dominance here. I think it's a result of a combination of the types of tractors Kubota sells and the owner's that purchase them.

Back in the old days when TBN was just a little website, it was dominated by Kubota. It still is have a very high % of Kubota users. Add to those tidbits the fact that Kubota sells something over 60% of all the compact tractors in North America and 11,000 threads begins to make sense. :)

Bob,
Back when this was a very very little website, it was a Kubota only website. Bird, RAT, myself, and a few others are still around from those days. The site has grown in tractor representation(most brands, types) and "other" like "Related and Rural". It was not even called TBN back then.

Back when, some times it took days to get responses, because it was Kubota only, and there were only 100 or so of us. Now, there are thousands, of all tractor types, and reponses may come in seconds

That is part of where the majority in Kubota's on the site came from.

Having been here since close to the start, it is truly amazing how this site has evolved :D Pretty cool;)

Bottom line is people on TBN don't know how to use the SEARCH function to find the information they need -- it's much easier to just start a new thread on a topic that has been already discussed hundreds of times.

I don't think that is true. I think lots of us just don't take the time... There have been old topics that I could reference, if I took the time. Or, start fresh in just a moment.

I would offer though, that maybe the FAQ and Search menu's could take a more prominent spot on the web site, possible in bolder lettering and color so as to get attention.

What color paint do I buy for Kubota Orange at TSC? (sorry couldn't resist)

I started here in the pre-purchase category... then purchase... then job bragging... now I sometimes help others - often make bad jokes (I like to think someone laughs at them - nobody ever complains) - read about others adventures - and share in community.

Google is search - Yahoo "was" search - this is community. To borrow from the esteemed Senator from NY (gag) - "It takes a village to raise a tractor".

I have learned more about topics I "knew about" the 3rd time they came up - because - like a previous poster said - someone new joined the board and was smarter than everyone else who ever posted on that topic before.

As for why the Kubota forum is so "busy" - I'd guess it's a demographics thing... We should start a new thread (too bad TBN does not support polls) - I'll bet the mean age is lower in Orange country than others...
