Hi,

I just bought an 1120 with the PTO engaged all the time. The lever on the left side of the housing is pointing all the way forward (horizontal) and will lift up about 2" and stops against something. Does anyone have any thoughts on this before I roll up the sleeves? Also, how does the PTO get de-clutched to engage it once I get the lever repaired? Pressing the clutch all the way down doesn't stop the PTO. I am new to Deere, I had an old David Brown for 18 years and am used to the two stage clutch on it but I assume that there is a different method here.

Thanks for any help!

It sounds like your lever for the PTO is too far forward. Are there symbols for the PTO cast on the trans case? They should be for engaged and disengaged PTO positions. Is the lever too far beyond the symbol? Maybe over center and no longer connected to the sliding collar tha connects/disconnects the PTO shafts.

I doubt you have the Independent hydraulic PTO clutch (it would have a lever). Most likely you have the two stage clutch and the PTO clutch is seized up and not releasing. Possibly your tractor is old enough to have a transmission driven PTO?

If you don't have a lever between the 2 gearshifts(ind pto) then the lever on LH side you referred to engages/disengages the continuous pto while depressing clutch pedal all the way. It sounds as if the pto clutch is stuck and the shifter inside trans is loose/broken
