1135 transmission

My MF 1135 (8 spd no multi power) has a transmission issue after setting idle for about 6 months. Started the other day, it goes in 2nd and reverse with ease but will not shift into 1st or 3rd, not 4th or park. The shift lever won't slide over far enough to go into park. Lightly used a pry bar but won't go into any gears but 2nd and reverse. I'm thinking the shifting lever that slides sideways to select a gear may be the problem. Never a problem shifting before until now.

It has been 50 years since I have been on an 1135, if memory serves it sounds like maybe rusty pin in the linkage

I am not first-hand familiar with the innards of a MF 1135 transmission. In much older Massey tractors the stick protruded through a plate into the transmission and the tip end of the stick maneuvered shifting plates within the tranny to slide gears fore and aft accomplishing a shift. I had one that would sometimes get "out of pocket" and disable one's ability to properly shift gears. I was able to remove the top cover plate, lift the shift lever and get it back into the correct slot in the shifting plate and put things back together. I never knew if it was wear (likely) or if something was bent in the shifting plates. Never had a permanent repair. As I said yours may be totally different. I would NOT be prying anything with more leverage if I were you. Edgar above may be correct on rusty parts. I'd do lots of lube and NO prying. See if you can get a cover off or other way to get better visibility on the problem.
