12 x16 storage shed

Kennygee, the weather in Texas, today, sure was nice for shed building. I am building a 20x20 gambrell shed. I was out putting in floor joists today. I am putting in concrete blocks down the middle to split the span in two. It is going to be an interesting project as I have never built a gambrell before. It is also going to be a long term project as I am a solo builder. My trusty tractor, FEL and forks help a lot. Today my tractor had an unusual electrical issue. Totally dead then came back to life. If my tractor does not work, I may not be able to shed build.

Thanks guy' for all the info. I think I will go with double 2x8s for the 16' and double 2x8 on the first cross members then 2x6- 2' OC for the rest. The reason for the doubling is when nailing down walls will be going into more than just 3/4"plywood. For the exterior I am going to use 26ga. Sheet metal with a 40 yr guarantee on the color.roof as well.I am also going to be installing rain gutters dumping into a french drain system I already have. I will just have to remember to make sure I end up with 16'x12' exterior so I don't have to order extra metal!! Still not sure about the door ,I am going to price the double french style tomorrow. 68 degrees out side today, hope it stays this way for another 4 days while I am off work!!

I don't think you need to double the end joists just for nailing in the wall -- that's not even done when framing homes. There should be plenty to nail into with just one joist on the edge, and then hitting the cross joists.
