1231 loader specs?

Neil you are right my friend, but "pivot pin" force is and always has been the way these things are measured and shown on spec sheets (most manufacturers anyway). They could be missleading to customers that don't completely understand the forces applied and not applied to the loader under use. However whether these numbers are misleading or not they are a clear indication of what a loader can handle and when comparing one loader to another the one with higher "pivot pin" capacity will have more "actual" capacity.

I'm sure you have read the thread that bob surka and I went back and forth on. Sadly he left this site and I think I am the sole champion of bucket center measurements. I have a huge issue with with companies that neglect to even list it. Any reputable company is going to at least put it on their spec sheets, in my mind obmiting it is paramount to deception. Shady dealers don't help any, so many salesmen throw out the larger pivot rattings without ever explaining what they mean. End result is the dozens of people who end up on this site making false claims about how brand X outlifts brand Y by some huge margin, and there are also those who buy a loader for a particular job only to find out that it does not lift the figure that they where told. Its a completly irrelevent spec, I wish everyone would just go with bucket center and be done with it.

End rant.. i have not gone off about this for awhile /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Can you help me find the post you are refferencing? Do you know of how the bucket center measurements you are refferencing pertain to a comparison of Kubota loaders vs. Kioti? I am ignoranty to this type of measurement altogether. What happend to Skurka, I always enjoyed reading his past posts even if I did not agree with everything he said.

Thanks

It could be that the pivot pin is used because it is easy to calculate, only one cylinder is involved so some wiz bang engineer can figure how much force is available working at whatever fulcrum points, leverage, etc.. The distance to the center of the bucket works in an arch, you would have a different lift figure with the bucket flat or with it curled back or in the dump position. 30% may be a bit much or it might be right on the money. I have a couple tons of tractor weights and could do a test, but I expect the rated lift considers a reserve or margin of error so I may be able to lift more than the recommended amount.
