12v Accessory Outlet

I have a cheap strobe light that I wanted to put on the Mahindra 4035 for plowing, but it didn't have any 12v outlets. I put one in, and thought I'd show how easy it is to tie into an existing circuit using the trailer outlet. Obviously, you'll want to take amperage draw into account if you're planning to power something other than a simple light.

This is where I thought about putting the outlet (black cover beside the model/serial tag). I decided to put it in the back for my purpose, but if you wanted to power something by the operator station, this would be ideal and easy to access.

This is a scrap piece of metal I had, for the outlet bracket. Ideally it could have been a little thicker, but it turned out fine.

The bracket is going to mount behind the trailer connector using the same bolts.

This is the trailer connector. Very easy to add an additional wire.

This is the plug with the new wires, ready to reinstall on the tractor.

The end product. There's room for another plug if the need arises for one.

You'll notice I had slotted the top of the bracket in order to put the trailer plug wires through the hole without unplugging it. This wasn't really necessary, I didn't realize how easily the whole harness came off.

In the trailer connector, the large white wire is ground. I tapped off the brown wire (for power) for now, this is the park/running lights circuit, so the outlet will only be powered when the lights are on. If you wanted power all the time, you can use the black wire, which has 12v power whenever the key is on.

The pictures make the bracket looks like it's real close to the 3 point arms, but it's not really.

The light is sort of temporary, as I'm planning to build a cab next summer, I will probably wire in lights on a new circuit with dedicated switches. Then I plan to switch the outlet's power wire to the black one.

I added a 12v outlet to my Deere 4400.
Determining where to install it was a bit of a challenge. The primary purpose was for a magnetic base warning lamp.
I ended up installing it on the front panel, just below the key switch...some place accessible, somewhat protected (from the elements and being struck by my knees when moving about the operator's station).

Anyway, you did a nice job and I think you'll find it quite handy.

Now that you have a trailer connection you should get one of these if you need some extra lighting.

On my Kioti CK30, I installed the 12v outlet next to the seat on the left side. I drilled a hole in the bezel for the PTO control.

This way my wife can use het heated motorcycle clothing when she's out plowing snow.
