I need to connect a 12v sprayer to my Cub 5252's electical system. Anyone know how best to do this??

On my sprayer I just hooked into the tail light wire with a jumper and connector. Then to spray I just switch the lights on. Built-in switch that is easy to reach. No problem with load and have not blown any fuse yet.

Hi billp, I did this a couple of years ago to my CC 3240. I came right off the positive battery terminal and straight into an inline fuse (20A I think) to be safe. Continued on to a push/pull on/off switch (kind of like the old headlight switch in the old cars) which I mounted on the dash in a convenient place. Then out of the switch to the positive side of the plug for the sprayer. I just found a good grounding point for the negative side of the plug. On my 3240, I have a small toolbox under the seat. I ran the wires up into this toolbox and left a couple of feet of slack. When I hook up the sprayer, I just open the toolbox and pull the wire out and plug it in. When I'm done, it get's stowed away. I'll try to take a few pictures if I get a chance tomorrow. BTW - I found the switch at a boat store. I was looking for something that would be water resistant and figured a boat store would be a good place to start. Don't forget the fuse! And put it as close to the power source (battery in my case) as possible. Also, use heavy gauge wire, heavier than needed just in case, with good heavy insulation. Then make sure you don't route it near anything that moves, any sharp edges, or anything else that might cut the wire. But just in case something does happen, you have the fuse!

Also, I would definately put a switch in the circuit somewhere. It works great for turning the sprayer on and off. I use it when crossing drives and around areas I don't want to spray.

Good Luck, let us know how it goes. I'll try to post some pictures.

That's a great idea, and a lot easier than my way Too bad my 3240 didn't have rear lights /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I guess now that I have power back there, I could add the lights /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I don't have the warning lights on the ROP but I bet there's a lead there for them. I'll check that out. If not what about coming off a fuse in the fuse box?? Wheres that cub tech guy at when you need him?

Old post, but for late readers, who want to know. I hooked a 110 volt drop cord (ends cut off) to the Battery. Ran it to a 110 volt, covered light switch, mounted under the Dash. And continued down the frame to my back fender and ended it in a 110 volt house outlet. Put a 110 plug, on my 12v wire, hooked to my 12v sprayer, then plug it into the outlet box.
Now, I can turn the sprayer on and off, from my tractor seat.

That's probably a code violation but I guess if it works....... You could probably use a low voltage receptacle and plug of some kind.

UUMMMM....It's on a Tractor.......not the House....I've been using this for close to 20 yrs now......it all started on a garden tractor.....Darnedest thing tho....it wont power, my power drill....I don't know....lol
I just cut the plug end off the drop cord, strip the wires back and hook it to the 12v wiring to the sprayer.....Ya know Bob....I get sick and tired of the "Childrens Home", eerrrr Government.....telling what I can and can not do.....OOOOOOhhhh someone might try plugging a 110v drill into it...go ahead...it wont work...HOWEVER....if you plug that 12v sprayer into a drop cord...Then you might get a free Fireworks Display...
The only problem I've had with using 110 volt stuff on a 12 volt system, was when I screwed a screw into a box and it hit the positive wire on the switch. YEP...durn near burned my ole cub lowboy down. It's Bad enough REWIRING a tractor the 1st time, but to have to do it Again....I understand "The Children" are just trying to protect me from myself, BUT, I didn't fall off the turnip truck this morning....

You can call me Red Neck, just Don't call me late for Dinner.....lol
