I have a model 1320 Cub Cadet with a 12.5 hp Kohler that will not start after 18 years of trouble-free service. Turning the ignition key produces nothing, not even a click. The battery is strong. An inspection of the wiring shows good insulation and terminal connections. Dead-man switches appear to be functioning. Help? Thank you.

Troublehooting with a 12 volt test light is there voltage at the starter solenoid when you turn the key to start? If there's voltage there then ether the solenoid is bad or not grounded. If the voltage isn't there and you are getting voltage to the keyswitch then ether the key switch or one of the interlocks aren't making a connection. Check the back of the keyswitch to find the start terminal and start tracing from there.

I had the same problem with mine. Under the seat and to the right of the Battery, I found a 20 amp Fuse that was blown....it would blow intermittently and the tractor wouldn't start. After doing some tracing of wires, I found wires rubbed thru against the arm that engages the Deck causing the fuse to blow. This might be the diagram for your tractor...depending on Serial #
