i just bought this tractor and it has a draft system and i have only use the older mf35's with no draft. how do i work this thing? either i'm doing it wrong or the lift isnt working properly. should the inside lever lift my bush hog no matter what or does the draft have to be all the way back for the inside lever to affect the lift....where do the levers go so i can just go up and down with the implements?

The draft response control (outer lever) has to be all the way back for the up/down control (inner lever) to work as expected. The draft response control lever is only used for ground engaging implements like bottom plows.

Mr. Massey, I'm gonna go look at a 135 diesel thats on tractorhouse.com from Wooster Oh. Can you look at the ad and give me some advice?

thanks, thats what i thought....

it doent work properly then, with draft all the way back it lifts the bushhog once in a while only if i fiddle around with the levers (maily draft lever), but it will lift it all the way up when it works and allows me to adjust level as it goes down , havnt tried see if drops down fast after i cut the tractor off yet...

I'll try to help if I can, but I'm not an expert so take anything I say with a grain of salt.

There are several posts here on the MF site with possible causes but most are normally for lifts slow to lift or too quick to lower. First off though, place your draft control lever all the way up and forget about it unless you're using ground engaging equipment. After that, without an implement on back, try the lift. Issues that may be causing your problem include;
1. contaminated hyd fluid caused by cracked shift lever boots or lift spring boot have allowed water into your hydraulic fluid, check to see if it's a light sandy brown colour (see pic). Another possibility is someone has over-greased the 3 point linkage at the top cover which, as I found out, will allow excess grease into the case / fluid and clog up your filter,
2. there is a standpipe that transfers fluid from the pump to the aux control on the top cover, these seals get old and will allow fluid to bypass (see pic, upper left). If it's the top seal you'll be able to see whether it's leaking through the PTO engage side cover, (you'll need to drain a gallon or so of fluid prior to removing it) it will look like a waterfall coming from the top of the standpipe,
3. adjacent to the pto side cover you've removed is your filter (see pic, lower center adjacent to the pto select cover), look at it to see if it appears clogged. If there has been grease or other contaminants in your fluid there is a chance it may be restricting fluid flow,

These are possible causes if your problem is that it's slow or lacks power when lifting implements. Severe contamination, such as a completely clogged filter like I had, can also prevent it from operating at all.

Hope this helps.

i replaced the fluid and filter because of milky fluid due to water, even ran 5 gallons of diesel through it as suggested. i guess i will have to look at the stand pipe. could a draft lever adjustment cause this issue to? it goes up (and slowly) only when i slam the draft lever back

Quick question, your response control lever (where dipstick is located) is selected to "FAST"?
