What is that to the left of the engine, with the hydraulic lines on it? Is it a brake tender, by chance?

You mean the silver thing with a black nob on the top? That is Draft Control, a feature on the slope tractors. It provides a bit of up pressure so that the mower is not resting on the ground but on the arms of the tractor, It helps with traction on slopes by providing more tractor weight.

Thanks, I thought it was something unique to a slope tractor. Regular 425s don't have it...
