Anybody put a rear remote (or front remote) on a 1428 Hydro? The MF dealer priced out a remote from MF and nearly passed out himself at the cost so I guess I have to go aftermarket. I would love any and all thoughts on this one.

I remember pricing rear remotes a couple months after I got my 1428 and could not believe the price. They say the only time to get them is when you're buying the tractor. How much was the quote?

Over $1200. I am sure that there is a way to do it more less. The problem is that because we don't have green, orange or blue paint on our tractors the volume is not there....not enough volume to make it worth a companies effort and not enought volume to attract the brilliant people on TBN that manage to solve problems like some Tractor based Borg.

Seems like we at least should be able to purchase the adapter that goes on the tractor to tap into the hydraulics off the hydro and we could take it form there but the MF dealer says no.

See KHNewman's Rear Remote question on the Hydraulics forum. Might be a start.

If you look underneath your right runningboard, do you have a loop like we do??

If so, that we relocated ours.

At some point in time, we will add a controller, but for now we do not need it. Our log splitter has it's own controller. Untill we do add a controller, we have to shut the tractor down to hook up, and unhook implements. Either the loop, or the implement must be connected, if it is not DO NOT run the tractor, or you will dead head the pump - NO GOOD!.

Even with the cost of adding a controller, it will still cost way less than the dealer wants. You can get a controller for around $200 from Surplus center online, and if you are handy with tools, it will save you tons.

What do you want to operate?

For a front remote, you can get a WR Long electric/hydraulic valve for about $600 or so if you are trying to power a grapple.

Cylinders on a truck plow that I am modifying to fit my FEL. Probably have it done for spring at my current rate.
