Power Trac 1430
After 4.5 years of saving, waiting, questioning, re-thinking, mind-changing, spending savings, re-saving, doubting, CUT/skidsteer/contractor shopping, PT QC horror storying... Got off the pot and ordered the 1430 with grapple, LM bucket, brush cutter, wheel trencher, potato digger, extra plate, treadle spring upgrade, extra filter, turf to bars, arm rests, extra wheel and tire. Purchased an unused Lackender Baby Boomer minihoe from Rip and 2 PT female couplers for minihoe. Add $2K shipping to Texas = PRICELESS

I bought all I could afford from PT while still saving a little $$$ for grease, wrenches, and a new digital camera.

Decided I didn't need the cement mixer for the one time use and couldn't justify an additional $1600 for the forks (have to save something for Christmas next year:) )

PT will be unable to get the shipment out this week and is closed next week, but I should have my new MUT in early December. Nothing like the smell of a newborn MUT at X-mas

Thanks to all for the advice and encouragement over the past 4 years
YOU BETTER BE RIGHT!!! If not, as I am very mechanically challenged, I will need a lot of help from this board in the near future.

FWIW - special thanks to Rip for reaffirming my faith in humanity. Talked on the phone and e-mailed a couple of times, he shipped me his unused Lackender hoe before I even had a chance to send payment. Good doing business w/ you Rip and I PROMISE, the check is in the mail.

Thanks again to all

We almost didn't get the forks for our PT-425, and they were only $300 or $350 at the time. My wife didn't think we would use them enough to warrant the purchase. I insisted, however, and they have proved to been extremely useful, even with their fixed width and limited length.

Based on how often I used the PT-425 forks and how handy they are to have around, I would think the adjustable 1430 forks would be an excellent implement to have. The $1,600 they want for them is a bit of a shock, though. Still, if I was spending your money, I would have bought the forks, too. :D

And can anyone tell me what the potato plow is good for? Do you all grow 'taters?

I can only think of one or two uses (for me), loosening dirt in bottom of creek or in ditches before scooping up with bucket. I thought this use my be faster than using the minihoe to loosen the dirt (un-powered to un-powered implement change). With shipping I really was trying to get everything I could now.

Congratulations on your purchase! :D

For forks, you should look around for a local forklift repair shop and see what they can set you up with. ;)

Here's one of the most attractive sources I've seen for forks. Though I can no longer see a price, as I recall these were in the under $600 range. Weld on a QA plate, and a good set of forks significantly cheaper than PT...

Great to have you on board with a PT after all this time. The wait will be a killer but the fun of arrival is priceless.
Keep us informed of the first few projects with pictures.

Congratulations on getting her ordered !!!

Be assured we here on the board will not abandon you.....you will be less mechanically challanged after owning a PT for a while. And I am not just talking repairs either.....PTs have been known to inspire all sorts of creative new uses and attachments.

Just moved and loaded two full (to cab roof) loads of beetle-kill logs with the grapple and chipped the slash with my PT-addapted hydraulic chipper today.

So, shall I predict that after using your new PT for a while you will not be able to wait for next Christmas to get a welder, plasma cutter, drill press, grinder, etc, etc ?

That Bargain ForkLift outfit (referenced above) has some good prices, but I would try to find something new or used locally or you may pay half again as much in freight as the item is worth.

Was a pleasure doing a bit of business with you as well.

Good Luck.....Rip
