Man is this machine QUICK!
It is even faster in reverse  . Make sure you go easy on the reverse treadle until you get used to it.

Back to the forks issue... I love my forklift attachment. They have saved (what remains of) my back on many occasions...useful to shift heavy machinery around and to assemble new tools (woodworking is a side hobby for me, so I have made mobile bases for a bunch of machinery that is sized so the forklift attachent will slide in).

I am betting PT would weld a PT425 forklift attachment onto the PT1430 attachment plate if asked. I know some people have up/downsized equipment as appropriate. As noted here on the forum, however, the width of the PT425 forks is a little narrow (they don't work well to pick up a standard pallet), so you are probably better off looking elsewhere.

Congrats on the beautiful machine.

I've bent my PT425 forks several times abusing them, so they might not last too long on the more powerful machine. ;)

WOW to think my 1430 use to look like that. All I can say is mine is still red but dirty. I did get the adjustable forks from PT and being able to change the width has been useful. Just yesterday I moved a 450# wood stove only 18" wide then changed the forks to move several pallets of fertilizer.

Forgot to mention issue of speed control.. It will help if you keep both feet on the pedals. It will feel strange at first but with time you will get very close control.

About the forks.

David is so right. A secondhand forklift seller is the place to go. You can have a nice adjustable forklift for under $500. I would ask for the 16 in carriage, and 48 in forks. Those forks will take all the abuse you can deliver. I cut a 1 in hole in the tip of mine to install a 2 in ball to move trailer, boats and stuff. You can weld or someone can weld a quick-attach plate to it and you are good to go. You can even dig plants up, I even put a cylinder and bucket on one of my forks.

JJ,

that cracks me up. Why have a minihoe and forks?!?! Just pick up the tree's root ball, dig with attached bucket and dump... GENIOUS

OK, I will definitely start looking for some used forks at a forklift place

Thanks

BTW -- wouldn't you know it, the tractor came at the end of my 5 days off and it's going to be a over week before I really play tractor again.
