147D Canopy Support build

Disclaimer: This was not built to be a ROP in any way shape or form...

Want to get a canopy for sun and rain protection but had nothing to attach anything to. So went to work to make something up so I'd have somewhere to start. The tractor had mounting holes for the factory ROP.

Used 1 1/2x 2 1/2 x 11ga. tubing. Only size I could comfortably fit up thru and around fenders. Still haven't decided what I'm going to do for canopy but at least this much is done. Photos below..

That looks nice!! I like the idea of the canopy, I have wanted to make a canopy to fit my ROPS, and make one for my 155d, so I am interested on your next steps. Nice job and thanks for the pictures

In Ga. It gets warm in the summer. So I've learned it's in my best interest to get out and get going early. I could use a canopy but I have a lot of wooded acres that I have to get to and work on. So IMO. look at some of the ROP's that fold down and see what you can come up with. The late model JD. has it setup and they stay down. And easy to put backup. Looks great though and one reason I have no ROP on my YM2000. I'm on level ground. Pin and hinge it just below the back of the seat and then fold up the canopy?

I'm probably going to start making my own. Been looking at a few on line and at $250+ it make my decision a little easier. Biggest thing was what I was going to use for the top. I found a bottom out of an old bed liner I think will work. Trying to make this that it looks somewhat presentable.

Got the fork on top of it to take a little bow out of it..

I like to get out early too if I can, but my job on most days keeps me from getting our there when I want.

As for the folding down ROPS that is how my 2210d is set up from Fredricks. See attached picture, it is up right now, but can fold down. In the picture you can see where the hinges are at. I could make something work for this. As for my 155d I would have to do something similar to 4get gto did, except make the hinges too for the option to fold down.

I'm lucky in that my tractor is not as high as most others. One thing I had in mind from the start was to keep everything under 7' ( garage door height). But I had to keep head room..!

My idea is to make brackets that attaches to the uprights. It will be self supported on the brackets and not simply bolted to the top cross bar. This way I should have some adjustment up and down.

Still don't know if I'm going to be happy with my top. We'll see. Hopefully get some time today to cut some brackets out and work on the support that the top will actually lay on.. It all sounds good in my head now I just got to make it work..

Yes the height is a big thing, especially for a garage door, glad you were thinking ahead. My 2210d with R1 tires barely sneaks into my garage with the ROPS up. If I would put something on my 155d I would have a little more wiggle room. I think you are on the right track here. Maybe some removal pins would work to remove the top when you want.

2" is what the JD. has for clearance. I kid you not when they are up. To the day I bet you could pressure up the tires and it woud hit!! After I don't keep up with it all anymore I'm almost really surprised it didn't happen and get the Ph. call. The door is at the bottom right in the pick. And hands down to be able to fold it down or remove it for that matter would be the thing to do while still in fabrication. The JD. and the YM2500 from Fred. both has fold down ROP's...................
