TYM (Mahindra/Scorpion) also has the dual pedal on their Hydro

I guess I don't know how that stuff works. JD claims to have the patent, but maybe it's on the implementation and not on the idea of twin pedals. Or maybe they just haven't sued anyone for patent infringement yet. Only the lawyers know for sure /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I Think the patent Deere has is on the E-hydro which is servo controlled so the pedal is nt as hard to push as the non servo others use.

Yeah, the servos might be it.

The JD brochure says, "Patented Twin-Touch (R) pedals work with the natural motion of your foot. Press left pedal to go forward, and right to go reverse."

It's not clear from that exactly what the patent covers. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I love the operator platform on the 4310. I just find the tilt wheel a little cheezy. I prefer the tilt on the Kubota 3130 it operates with your foot. I just have real issues with the rocker style hydro pedal design

I like the rocker style hydro pedals. I place the toe of my foot on the forward area and the heel of my foot on the reverse. I can always dictate when and how fast I change speed and directions. On a single pedal design, the machine decides how fast it will slow down when released. The new Deeres are adjustable in this manner. With my rocker style, I can slow down easily or stop on a dime, the choice is always mine.

I love the rocker style hydro pedal. Very intuitve - press forward to go forward, backward to go backward. When I first got my tractor, I read some threads about not being able to use the individual rear wheel brakes at the same time as the hydro pedal. After 210 hours without yet using the brakes for anything, ever, except as a parking brake, I guess I've come to the conclusion that braking a wheel individually doesn't matter...

I don't even use the brake to cancel the cruise control - it's much easier to just use my pinkie to turn off the rocker switch.

stvman, I agree with you. The rocker pedal arrangement on Kubota and NH were one of the reasons why I didn't buy one of those. It's all personal preference. I ran into a guy at the Kubota dealer who claimed to have crashed his JD tractor when he pushed on the wrong pedal and he liked the rocker pedals. But, they're not for me.

I suppose it could be a learning curve thing but for me it just felt so unnatural. Running the Deere my heel never left the platform. Again it may be a non issue once your use to it but I could not help but think of going down a hill with my foot resting on the pedal hitting a good rut and its any ones guess where my foot ends up. At least with the Deere my foot would be planted on something that does not move.
