I find Woods & John Deere have a big presence in my area for cutters. Don't see a lot ofg Rhino, Bush Hog or Schulte around here. And they are good cutters.

same down here.. jd is a prime seller of batwings. lots of horse farms in my areas, and MOST of the horse farms are all 'greene' equipment.
the JD dealers hammer the horse farms hard to keep them populated greene.
on the plus side, the horse farms are turning over used equipment every 6-10 ys... my jd 1517 batwing came from such a farm.. was a 98, thus I got it when it was 7ys old or so.. it needed minor welding andsome attention to a pto shaft yoke. IE.. 1 days worth of work made it run.. mind you I gave it 3 days of works and cleaned and painted it..
Since I had it I had to do 1 major repair on it that cost me less than 400$ and I only paid 2000$ for it to begin with. figuring oil change, paint, smv plaques and that repair, i have probably 2800$ in it, and of that 400$ repair, most of that was actually the purchase price of a hobart 235a welder to make the repair, as a mobile welding service wanted 400$+ to come out and weld it.. I actually made the repair cheaper than their service call, AND got a welder out of the deal. previous to that I only had a small toy welder 120v job. fine for 1/4 and down.. but not up to welding a wing hinge back on..
Bush-Whacker's are as tough as nails. There is a reason most highway departments use them. If you buy one I would spring for one with deck rings, they are just iceing on the cake so to speak. The most impressive thing I've seen one do is a farmer bought a 260 field that hadn't been maintained in years and was completely overgrown with small trees. He took a T180 and a John Deere 8100T tractor and cleared the whole field. The trees were taller than the tractor and at least 4" in diameter. The only damage that could be seen on the mower was the front chain curtains were all bent up.
And that was a constant cut of trees. Not like most people talk about when clearing brush where its just a large tree here and there. These trees were only a few feet apart over the whole 260 acres.
Just picked up a Woods medium duty 180 15' batwing. Haven't had the chance to use it yet since nothing needs cutting, but my 62PTO HP tractor spins it up no problem!
I wanted a bush hog, but they're too proud of them up here!
