I think Toyota realized that they could make a 1000hp truck that got 50 mpg and the people who love Ford would still buy a Ford (and so on). I would guess that since they can't win over the fanboys who love their badge of choice any advancements should be well tested. I don't think Toyota would be happy releasing a motor that burnt a quart of oil every thousand miles.
that's really a good point. I'm curious as to the purchasing reality here. I wonder what percentage of truck buyers buy the same brand as their next truck? Owner loyalty? Toyota
usually has outstanding service departments and a high quality experience.
With these new 80% sized trucks, I think there's going to be a lot of looking around going on, not only by size but by brand.
And for guys in retirement, these smaller trucks should have a lot of appeal. I mean no offense to anyone but the current/older gen of these trucks
are just awful, for all three big makers. Old inefficient designs. Sold long past their prime. Constant thumbs down by Consumer Reports and the mags.
So new designs can really be new in this smaller market, and could create some real buying impetus for guys like my close friend driving a worn out Ranger.
And lastly, not sure of length dimensions, but if they can fit a crew cab Colorado in a standard garage, boy they have a winner.
It drives me nuts keeping my Suburban outside, with daily bird droppings (yeah, we feed the birds a lot...:confused3

etc.
Topkicker, will it fit in my garage? The big trucks won't, tell me the new one will...please.
