I was surprised Toyota thought it would be enough to slap on a gaudier grill on the same truck and powertrain, update the infotainment and gizmos, and think that's all they had to do. I guess they are spending all their R&D money on hybrids and plain vanilla cars, because that's what sells vs. the US companies who try to make all their profit on the trucks.

There is one Eco diesel Ram at Reedmans, for $57K.
I'll wait until the summer when they start discounting them.
That first adopter premium they charge is such a rip.

Looks big. Chris
It does appear big. They have a lot of ground clearance. I think this gives em a larger appearance. They seem small to me after working at Ft. Wayne with the full size trucks. Here is a comparison. image-2474474712.jpg

I think Toyota realized that they could make a 1000hp truck that got 50 mpg and the people who love Ford would still buy a Ford (and so on). I would guess that since they can't win over the fanboys who love their badge of choice any advancements should be well tested. I don't think Toyota would be happy releasing a motor that burnt a quart of oil every thousand miles.

My truck is a 2007 Tundra 5.7 V8 4wd, I agree Toyota should have made some powertrain and mechanical changes. Not just cosmetic changes, the large screen and rearview camera is something I wish I had.

that's really a good point. I'm curious as to the purchasing reality here. I wonder what percentage of truck buyers buy the same brand as their next truck? Owner loyalty? Toyota usually has outstanding service departments and a high quality experience.

With these new 80% sized trucks, I think there's going to be a lot of looking around going on, not only by size but by brand.
And for guys in retirement, these smaller trucks should have a lot of appeal. I mean no offense to anyone but the current/older gen of these trucks
are just awful, for all three big makers. Old inefficient designs. Sold long past their prime. Constant thumbs down by Consumer Reports and the mags.
So new designs can really be new in this smaller market, and could create some real buying impetus for guys like my close friend driving a worn out Ranger.
And lastly, not sure of length dimensions, but if they can fit a crew cab Colorado in a standard garage, boy they have a winner.
It drives me nuts keeping my Suburban outside, with daily bird droppings (yeah, we feed the birds a lot...:confused3:) etc.

Topkicker, will it fit in my garage? The big trucks won't, tell me the new one will...please.

I'm on my third suburban, all bought new. Current one an 09 Z71 4x4, with 90k on clock. I'll move to the 2015 when they get production going. Would never be with the suburban. Has

Assuming 20ft deep is the standard, the answer is yes. You have 2 bed length options on a crew cab. 5 and 6 ft. The crew w 5 ft bed overall length is 212.3 inches (shy of 18ft). The crew cab w 6ft bed is 224.1 inches overall (shy of 19ft).

Excellent, but with six inches to the rear and six inches to the front on the crew cab, old fat guys like myself aren't going to be able to squeeze by the front bumper without giving it a buff shine each time...That 18 footer would be perfect, but has the small bed. Well, something had to go.
thanks.

If u need more bed and less back seat, the extended cab w 6ft bed is 208.2in overall length. That's a tad over 17ft.
