150, 165, or 245???

I need to pull a 2-row plow, 7 ft. disc-harrow, 7 ft. cultivator, 6 ft. bush-hog, and 2-row planter. I have been looking at older MFs (the 150, 165, and newer 245). These all seem to be real solid tractors. The 150 is the harder model to find, maybe because it is so popular. My Dad always said that the MF 180 was a "lemon" model for MF, and to stay away from it. I'm looking for advice on which way to go. Thanks.

You could handle those implements with an MF135 diesel which seems to be a lot easier to find than the ones you mentioned judging by what I see on eBay and Craigslist. Mine is a 1964 MF135 diesel deluxe with multipower. Bought in in July 2006 for $3600. Finding any one of those MF models in cherry condition is a bit of a chore--mine probably will need a clutch job since I've run out of adjustment on the pedal and the pto shifter isn't working right.

Good luck.

Found a 150 for $4K. Tires are good. Paint's good. Everything works. Wha-da-ya think? Worth it?

If it's a diesel, that's a bargain compared to what they sell for here. (and provided it's in decent condition)

Gassser, that's about the "going rate". Not a huge bargain, but not a bad deal either.

I wouldn't take 3 times that amount for my 150!

I've heard of aftermarket power steering kits for the 100 series, but haven't ever actually seen one. Not sure where you'd go for one.

Best advice I could give is find a tractor salvage yard and rob all the parts from another tractor. Besides to pump, everything else is contained behind the grill. (It's actually "power assist steering".) Any 150 or 165 w/ps would make a suitable donor.

Must be a very early production 150....All 150's post 1965 were power steering as standard equipment.
