150 hour service

I'm at the 150 hour mark on my TC29D now. The dealer took care of the 50 hour service for free, but now I would have to pay for having them do it, so I'll do it myself. As near as I can tell from the manual, all that's required is an engine oil and filter change, clean the air filter, and clean the fuel filter.

1) Oil and filter change. Based on what I read on the post "Discount Prices on Filters ", I guess I'll just buy the oil and filter from the dealer, escpecially since I'm still within the 2 year warranty.

2) Clean the air filter. I assume I can just clean it with a shop vac and blow it out with an air compressor.

3) Clean the fuel filter. I hoping to just follow the steps in the manual for draining and bleeding the fuel system. Is the manual complete, or is there anything else I should know?

Danny, you need to also check all fluid levels and do a lube job on all fittings every 50 hours, I think. Also, check air pressure in tires and water level in both the battery and the radiator. Your owner's manual should have a detailed lubrication chart. Also, be very careful with the engine air breather filter. It is easy to get the inside filter on backwards, blocking the airflow. Be sure and turn the end with the hole toward the inside. You should only blow the dust out of the outer filter using compressed air from the inside out. Be careful, because you can damage the paper element if you hit it with too high pressure. That's my two cents worth...

the 40-50.00 for a set of air filters for your tractor is much better than taking the chance on damaging the air filters by cleaning them. think of it this way buy filters or buy a short block because dust and dirt got into the engine from a ruptured filter when you cleaned it and did not see the rupture. as they say penny wise and pound foolish
