Howdy all,
Odd thing happened to me today... well.. I think it's odd.
...was using my 1500... just pushing snow off the driveway.
working fine.

Pushed in the clutch, took it out of gear, let the clutch up.
Turned around and adjusted the 3pt toplink from the seat.
When I turned back around (facing forward), the clutch pedal was laying all the way down.
lift it, falls back down...
clutch is engaged.

after looking at my parts book, I'm suspecting (hoping) the rollpin broke... the one that goes through the shaft and fork.
looks like the weakest link.
does this sound reasonable and should I replace anything else (assuming that's the problem) while I have it split (haven't yet).

Figured I'd ask prior to getting started on it.
Thanks in advance,
Jake

Jake,

Sure sounds like a roll-pin. When you say "Split", you talking about spliting the tractor?

re: "split"...

ya... don't I have to take 'er apart to get to that linkage?
...or am I being a goober and missing something simple here... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well maybe not...I was thinking you should be able to access the roll pin through the steering box opening (If you pull the steering box) but after looking at the 1500 bell housing clutch diagram, I'm not sure.

And since I don't see a roll pin in this diagram, it may be a case where you could reach in and feel it, but could you actually change it out??

4 bolts and the pitman arm nut and you can slide the box and shaft pretty far up to have a decent look-see.

There should be 2 roll pins, a 3.5m x 32m inside a 6m x 32m.

ya... saw the 2 on the drawing... (4-24 & 4-23)
I have to admit, I've never seen one inside another before.
..at any rate, thanks much for the sizes too, Danny.

As a longtime lurker, I've GOT to mention how much I appreciate how helpful you folks are.

I'll let ya know how I make out.

well.. good news and bad news...

good:
I did have fairly good access after removing/lifting the steering box..

bad:
it's not the rollpin(s)...
it's actually the fork/sleeve thingy (whatever it's called)... one of it's arms broke off.
so... looks like I'll need that part..
it's 4-21 on the parts drawing
p/n 194190-22160... or so says my parts book.

next question.. anybody have one?
and maybe the rollpins that go in it too?
I'd like to fix this pronto..
thnx,
Jake

sorry folks.. got too antsy there... and ran off at the mouth (fingers).
duh... r=red, g=green... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
my book is wrong (for me), it shows the green #...
my tractor is red... so, guess I'll need to pay close attention to that from now on.
