Ok... dumb question...

There is a little black line that comes out of the neck of the fuel tank. It bubbles around it while in operation.

It appears like this little hose goes to the top of the cylinders and what I assume is (are) the injectors.

Does that mean that This is a simple suction fuel system and that there is no fuel pump? Or is this some kind of breather? I can take pictures if there is any issues with identification but I pretty much think the answer will be easy.

Should be the fuel return line from the injectors.

I think what you are describing are the fuel injector return lines. Excess fuel that the pump sends to the injectors are returned to the fuel tank. It does have a fuel pump. Some call it the injector pump. A diesel will not run without one.

IF YOUR SEEING AIR BUBBLES AROUND IT ,CHECK YOUR FUEL CAP VENT HOLE .THE TANK VENTS THRU THE CAP.

could it be part of the thermostart?

Wow... what a simple idea... a return... Thanks. I whould have been able to figure that out for myself. But glad the answer came that quickly.

I don't think that my fuel cap has any breather hole. It seems perfectly solid. Maybe that is why the little bubbles around the hose.

Thanks again folks for such a quick response.

Can You post a pic of it ? also what it attaches to . My little 1300 just has a little tip that sticks out of the tank neck , no hose & fuel runs out when sloshing around if its more then 1/4 full .

I,ve been trying to figure out what its for & what should be connected to it as it looks like its broke off . Thanks Bob

I just took a closer look at Mine. & it does have the line from the injector pump running into the top of the tank. The one I,m talking about is 1/4 inch Hole coming out of the side that looks like it is a vent.

Can anyone confirm if its supposed to have a hose hooked up either on the outside or inside of the tank to Keep it from Slooshing out. Thanks, . Bob

It sounds like you do not have the filter that fits in the inlet to the tank. It has a couple of slots in the lip, allowing the tank to breathe when the cap is screwed down.
