Oil & Fuel 1533 Fuel Solenoid Shorted Out ??

you'll have to remove the solenoid. don't run it for long as oil will leak out. You will have to manually shut it off as well

Do you mean engine oil will leak out? The part still hasn't arrive yet and I need to use the tractor. Will it cause any damage if I use the tractor for a few hours? With the solenoid removed, I'm able to start and run the tractor like normal. Didn't notice any difference except for having to manually push the valve to shut off the tractor.

Yeah, engine oil.
Did you order your part from your dealer? Has it been on order the whole time?
If so you need to get down there & have him take one off a machine so you can get going. That part should be very quick to get.

No dealer within 100 miles has the part in stock so I ordered online and it's on back order. Just curious why engine oil there? Isn't it just a fuel shut-off valve inside? The solenoid only push/pull the valve. Thanks.

That's your fuel rack in there, it's lubricated by engine oil. Not under pressure, just a splash type if I remember right. It would just make a mess.

when I first started my tractor I smelled something like wires burnning didnt see any smoke and it was running good so I went to work. shut it off went in to eat and when i went back it wouldnt start.This was great information went right to the problem. bad thing is the price to fix

Look at the mark on the solenoid harness connector. Apperently original production solenoids have an orange mark, then they went to a green mark and now they use a red mark. Solenoids with green or red marks are improved over solenoids with the orange mark.

Is this the same on the 1600 series?

I had to do the same thing today on my 1635. I removed the solenoid and ground off the shaft and replaced it. The tractor will start now but I have to stall it out when I want it to shutdown. I'm waiting for the new solenoid but thankfully I am still under warranty.

Frustrating, after 5 years this sort of problem should be sorted out. Reading through the posts you would like to believe they purged all substandard solenoids with newer ones.

What year is your 1635 pretty?

1600 series is wired a different way. I'm surprised to hear of one failing.
